Also from the city since the 50’s. Now in MS. Same history for seaports with New Orleans and New York. Irish in the 1850’s on and Italians at the turn of the century. We all talk like we are from the Bronx etc. Same ethnic mixes over the years.
I always got a kick out of asking (axin’) people where I was from. Everyone said New York. Most of my family was from the Irish Channel area and Uptown.
We “made groceries at Schwegmann's”, wershed swimps in da’ zink, and changed the earl in da’ car. Crapped in da’ terlit (toilet).

As a kid I thought Thelma Lou was hot. Hated Helen. She looked like a bi*(h. Thought Andy could have done better. Barney should have latched onto Thelma Lou though. In the reunions she always looked the best.

Have you seen her lately? She’s hardly recognizable. One of the few cast members still living. I think just she and Opie. I didn’t think Helen was a beauty, but I think she and Andy had a certain chemistry between them.

Did you know Opie’s first girlfriend sometimes has articles posted here at FreeRepublic?

Sound weird? Well, there’s a color episode of “The Andy Griffith Show” in which Opie has a crush on a girl, and gets a date for a party with her. She then dumps him for a preferred schoolmate. The young girl was played by the child actress Suzanne Caputo. When Caputo grew up and got back into acting in the 1980s, she’d changed her name to Morgan Brittany. And Brittany, a conservative, writes for Townhall.com, on economic issues. And sometimes her articles get posted here.

How’s that for a quirky little factoid?

If it weren’t for the mexican invaders, California would be losing population. People (non-mexicans) are fleeing the state.

Was Morgan Brittany Once Suzanne Caputo? . - Google News (1988)

When she was old enough to make her own decisions, she decided she was more a Morgan Brittany than a Suzanne Caputo. Dear Dick: I remember some ...

If Alabama gave them more they’d dump Louisiana in a heart beat.,

I seriously doubt that. Yes, there has been incentives started under Mike Foster's administration. However, the synergy is reaching the tipping point where it may be embedded in Louisiana long term.

I have a friend who deals in real estate. Many Hollywood workers are moving into the city. Many writers and producers are settling in the Garden District.

He says the demand for housing is so great in that area, that any house that goes on the market is usually sold the first day. He says many Hollywood types are paying cash, sight unseen for the houses.

There are also a number of large production facilities under development or being planned. The film industry is definitely becoming embedded in Louisiana.

I am a former resident of New Orleans. Born and raised there. I now live in the suburbs. When movies are made in New Orleans, it’s always Mardi Gras and everyone lives in these beautiful apartments in the French Quarter. Sometimes they will venture out to the bayous. It’s like the rest of the city doesn’t exist. The residents are also portrayed with thick Southern accents. People in New Orleans don’t have Southern accents. Our accents have been compared to New Yorkers.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011) was set in Baton Rouge (and filmed partially in New Orleans per IMDB) and featured a pretty drab setting.

Part of Easy Rider was also shot in New Orleans.

Considering the bulk of what Hollywood produces, what that would effect is not proud of. a few years ago Louisiana was #1 in "Happiness" and 5th in importance of religion, and 41st in income. http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org/Statistical_Correlations.html

Yet the Apostle was partly filmed there (i could criticizes it somewhat, but overall an exceptional movie) , and Duvall says in describing the making of it , You get below the Mason-Dixon line and you have some of the best music, culture, the two races, the literature, and it's so rich, so deeply rich in many things. So why not try to get it right if you're going to make a film of southern religion? That's what I wanted to do."

Huh? Not a clue!
Sorry I don't know what you're talking about.

You MIGHT quote the writer. When you DON'T the reply comes OUT OF THE BLUE and makes NO sense. AND, it's unfair to make the poster dig through all the posts to find YOURS. I don't do it anymore, so your post NATURALLY makes NO sense.

Pretty hard to predict tax breaks, whoever you are, let alone “tax breaks galore.”
