Cruz: We'll 'bring back morning in America' (10-point plan for fixing America)
The Hill's Ballot Box ^ | March 6, 2014 | Cameron Joseph

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) kicked off the annual Conservative Political Action Conference with a populist rallying cry, outlining a 10-point plan for his vision of fixing America.

"We need to tell the truth. The truth is, Washington is corrupt," the Tea Party favorite said to cheers from the half-empty auditorium, bashing both President Obama and centrist Republicans.

"We need to end the corruption. We need to eliminate corporate welfare and crony capitalism," he said later. "If you come to Washington and serve in Congress there should be a lifetime ban on lobbying, and we need to pass a strong constitutional amendment that puts into law term limits."

Previewing what could be the outline for a potential 206 presidential bid, Cruz called for more natural energy production so the United States can stand up to "petro-tyrants like [Vladamir] Putin," for abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, repealing the Dodd-Frank law to reform Wall Street regulation and passing a balanced budget amendment.

In a comment that predictably drew the audience to its feet, he called for "repealing every single word of ObamaCare," calling it a "massive wealth transfer" from young people to everyone else, and argued that his push against the law's implementation last year that led to the government shutdown was worth the fight.

He also slammed Republican centrists, joking about would-be presidents Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney before hearkening back to President Reagan.

"You want to lose elections, stand for nothing," he said early in the speech, arguing that the only years the GOP had been successful was in 2010, when they rallied the Tea Party to opposition against ObamaCare.

"We will bring back morning in America. That's why we're here and that's the future for the young and everybody else in this country," he said in closing.

<>” . . . we need to pass a strong constitutional amendment that puts into law term limits.”<>

Cruz knows congress will never propose a term limit amendment.

That implies he envisions an Article V state amendment convention.

It will be good to stop mourning for America’s freedom loss.

The remarks of Cruz also apply to Ukraine. The USA has a long way to go on that trail to restore honesty to Washington.

Limiting the number of lawyers would help, too, to decrease the propensity to corruption. Washington is a cesspool of lies, class envy, disinformation, revenge, and chaos.

“That implies he envisions an Article V state amendment convention”.

To get there requires the participation of blue states. To accomplish something like amending the Constitution, requires even more blue states. As I see it, that might be a bridge to nowhere, a bridge to disaster, or if one is really lucky, a way to save the Republic.

Why depend on luck? Why not just start with Congress doing it’s job and going after the out of control lawless Supreme Court and the executive branche of government while reigning in itself? Both options would seem to have about an equal chance of succss.

Cruz or not, America is due for some REAL CHANGE and back to democracy and freedom. He has my vote even though I may not agree with all he plans for, his plan has got to be better than anything the demodummies have in store for our demise.

Thanks for posting

Cruz is one of the very few of the ones in the cesspool of Washington that give me any hope that something can be done to fix what is broke in America.

Be that said. I am still prepping to sustain myself and my darling wife for the collapse of this country and it’s economy.

I will do what necessary to aide in bringing back our country to a republican form of government when called upon knowing that my wife will be well provisioned and able to sustain herself.

Is serious, substantive reform of our government necessary?

Not as much as it would seem. Because a lot of states are already on the record calling for an Article V convention dating back over a century. IIRC the tally is in the high teens. And most of those calls were from now blue states. There are enough Romney states available to put things over the top. Proceeding from there would still need blue state participation.

It depends.

Is serious, substantive reform of how government operates, necessary?

A resounding Yes.

Cruz will have a hard time getting anything done if he is President. He will have the Democrats filibustering everything and dodging every bill. Guaranteed. We need someone who inspires and that is Walker! A governor who can motivate and pass conservative bills has only been accomplished by a few and one of them is Governor Walker.

Walker-Bachmann 2016 if you are serious about conservative values. Laugh about Bachmann all you want but she was the ONLY one who was telling it like it is with regards to Obamacare. Of course the faux conservatives just laughed at her.....such a sad state of affairs.

Not sure Ted Cruz is the right person to lead the way on this issue.

What filibuster??? Seems to me the nuclear option works both ways. If the Repubs reestablish it, they’re moronic beyond words.

All up to “the people” voting for hard core folks who will have an unchallenged majority.

...and we all know where that is going.

I think the only thing that can save us now is a return to monarchy, and there is only one King, we are willing as a people, to acknowlege.

Ehhh, looked back at my post and I do not believe I mentioned Cruz running for President.

And reading your post, it looks like if Walker is elected you think he will do nothing but, heaven forbid, COMPROMISE.....
