I will only add that all day on the business channel, CNBC, they’ve been talking about the fact that thousands of jobs go begging because of an enormous shortage of “skilled” labor. Employers can’t find plumbers, electricians, welders or machinists. The Airlines can’t find FAA certified technicians to refurbish airplanes.
There’s a serious problem with training for the jobs that are available.
That “dirty jobs” guy has a website devoted to getting training and jobs for people. It’s quite amazing.
I’m a retired machinist. I’ve seen some of these adds They are looking for “Purple Squirrels”.
They want you to be a machinist (manual and CNC), electrician,(including PLC’s diagnostics), fitter, welder, and be available for all three shifts. Then they offer $18.00 an hour.
I suspect the training is available. But everyone is in college playing video games and getting degrees in sociology instead of learning the trades or going to tech schools.
“Employers cant find plumbers, electricians, welders or machinists. “
People have put a stigma on vocational school. Any trade that requires working with tools or one’s hands is deemed beneath the modern urbanite. All the little darlings today have to have a college degree whether they need it or not. I made a darn good living with a vocational education while my PhD brother sucked wind unable to find work in Obama’s brave new world.
Oh...Those poor employers who've collectively hired millions of low wage illegal workers who literally took over all those fields including all forms of construction, warehousing, service etc.
Profits regardless of consequences....
To alleviate any guilt, be sure to always label Americans as fat and lazy...
Theres a serious problem with training for the jobs that are available.
I'm suspicious of the claim that all these very important, high-paying jobs are going unfilled for lack of qualified applicants.
If those jobs are really needed, then the companies should train applicants to fill them. There is no reason that the taxpayers should.
