No. McCain is offended that Cruz mentioned him but he is using Dole and a shield.

Should read - “as a shield”

Bob Dole was a good soldier who did what he had to do. His political life was the very epitome of go along and get along establishment republicanism. Newt Gingrich aptly described Dole as "the tax collector for the welfare state." McCain is out of line playing the vet card to excuse a pusillanimous policy maker.

LOL. McCain is pissed because Cruz included him the pantheon of wannabe Rep Presidents—President Dole, President McCain, and President Romney—losers all.

Doesn't it say about all that needs to be said, that McCain picked this particular media outlet to sound-off!!

“... he and I have a cordial relationship”
Is that another fantasy of his? I cannot imagine anyone being even amicable to him because he’s just such a nasty piece of work.

“he was so gravely wounded and left part of his body there fighting for our country”
I have the deepest respect for Bob Dole’s sacrifice. I am sure he served our country, in the military, with honor and courage.
On the other hand, the worst thing we could’ve done was nominate him as a presidential candidate. There is certainly a difference in how Bob made himself as a soldier... and how he made himself as a politician.

The problem with resting on your laurels too long is that that they dry out and crumble eventually.
