CPAC Audience: Legalize It!
Breitbart ^ | 03-07-2014 | John Sexton

There are things you expect to see at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and there are things you don't. One of the things you probably don't is an audience cheering and applauding arguments for legalizing pot and bemoaning the war on drugs.

A panel titled "Rocky Mountain High" held Thursday afternoon started out as a debate between Mary Katherine Ham of Fox and Hot Air and Christopher Beach a staffer for former Drug Czar William Bennett's radio show. But as the debate wore on it became clear the real disagreement was between Beach and the overwhelming majority of the audience.

The Q&A portion of the panel lasted well over an hour. Person after person stood up to challenge Beach's position on the war on drugs or the dangers of pot. Toward the end of the 100 minutes it had become a kind of joke. After one tough question by someone who clearly favored legalization, Beach turned to Ham and said "I guess that one's for me."

Spare us from the youthful libertarians. Mary Katherine Ham was taking the pro-homosexual position on Bill O’Reilly a few weeks back. Now it’s weed for her.

Drugs are evil. Much evil is done in the name of the war on drugs.

Which evil is worse is a matter for debate.

No-knock raids should be OUTLAWED!

Sniffer dogs (WRONG 55% of the time) should also be OUTLAWED!

Too many INNOCENT people are being caught up in the snare of the 'war on drugs'.

Dogs, no-knock—add in civil asset forfeiture, which is usually theft under cover of authority.

I’m 62 years old and have refrined from pot my entire life because it has been illegal. I fear if they legalize, I’ll spend my waning years as a stoner.

And throw in an occasional illegal colonoscopy (paid for by the suspect, of course) when the cops claim that he was “clenching” during a search.

I have a different attitude about all of this. If you come from a good Judeo/Christian family and you have strong faith and values, drugs, abortion, gay marriage will never impact your individuality.

Where the war will be fought is with the Hobby Lobby’s and Chik Fil A’s of the world.

If liberals want to kill themselves then I am all for it.

The war on drugs has had millions of casualties, and ruined the lives of so many. It has also made the cartels super rich and kept our southern neighbor unstable.

So add it up: Law enforcement gets to run amok and justify their militarization, the prison industrial complex grows, the government further justifies domestic surveillance, and the Mexican cartels get rich while using government supplied weapons and also receive assistance from certain fed agencies.

Does that sound like anything we can change? Consider the lawlessness of the real puppetmasters..... The real powers that be have no interest in stopping the war on drugs. THEY MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY FROM IT.

Obama is just their current straw man for us to complain about while they keep us distracted. (Just like we say Obama is doing, it goes a level higher.)

Agree 100%. Legalize it. When I was a Prosecutor, the “why isn’t this legalized” group among us and the cops was right around 90-95%. We all knew the “gateway drug” argument was BS. We all knew there was less physical harm than alcohol. We all knew it was a HUGE waste of our resources to go after pot users.

While it should be up to each State, absolutely legalize it.
