Missing Malaysia airliner: Hunt for clues begins
BBC News ^ | March 8, 2014 | By Chris Yates, Aviation Expert

Although it has not been stated explicitly yet, there seems little doubt that Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has crashed and probably with great loss of life.

Rescue will inevitably turn into recovery - of wreckage and bodies - and the search for clues will begin. --SNIP--

So what might they look for?

Weather can almost certainly be ruled out as a cause. Conditions have been described in different ways, but the consensus is that the aircraft was airborne in near-perfect flying conditions.

This leaves just two main possibilities - catastrophic mechanical failure or an act of terrorism.

Investigators will undoubtedly examine the maintenance record of this aircraft to determine whether all the requisite checks were fully completed, on-schedule, and attempt to glean whether there were any recent unaddressed issues.

They will do so knowing that Malaysia Airlines has been battling financial uncertainty. The state airline has been losing ground to ferociously competitive low-cost carriers, which may have implications for aviation safety.

That will change only after one of Uncle Stupid’s airliners goes down as a result of a body bomb.

Yep...Captain Obvious only shows himself to certain people though. Jetliner disappears...no distress signal or call...stolen passports...oh the possibilities!

That brings me to the next question: ‘how many Muslim aircraft maintenance personnel do we have working for US airline companies and the USAF?”

“Why would the US DHS be involved in pax probing on a flight from Malaysia to China?”

Beats me. May be Boeing wants the US government to be involved to save their asses?

Does anyone know where the NorK's missiles are?

If the Viet Cong report is correct, that's a hell of an air to air missile, over 8100 miles and gets a hit?

400 surface to air missiles disappeared during the Benghazi attack, and that is why the embassies were closed the next week. Those missiles, depending on distance, can be used to shoot down an airliner.
Although the two men using stolen passports may have gotten something through security....and I think that oil slick may confirm that.
So Hillary’s ‘What does it matter at this point?” It matters a lot if that plane went down from one of them...on her watch those 400 missiles were stolen.

Those were man portable systems. They are useless for an aircraft at altitude on speed. Max range 3 miles. Next crash at a lower altitude over land or close to shore, maybe. ManPads are not a wonder weapon with a Pk of one, (probability of kill) even with a trained operator.

Maybe they stole something else? Like what? If they aren't portable, it is going to be tough to position them on a boat in the ocean. Alone the missile would be about useless. They would need the launcher, the target acquisition system. Accuracy is not enhanced by shooting it off some Rube Goldberg setup. An SA-8 (non-ManPad but portable')engagement zone is up to 16k, not going to get it done.

Although the two men using stolen passports may have gotten something through security....and I think that oil slick may confirm that.

With a missile?

The slick could confirm the ac went down in the vicinity, if it was a bomb at altitude and on speed, the debris field would be large indeed considering the cataclysmic shredding and the 7 mile fall, the lighter pieces floating down.

I mentioned the missiles due to Hillary’s comments, as they are out there and I think everything was with them...we had a thread on it at FR...400 missiles had portability though as they were stolen during the attack in Benghazi that day/night? I’ll send you a link to what was taken.

I said the oil slick was proof the two stolen passports got through security, and the men were on the plane. Not sure how the plane was taken down actually...like you said could be several places as oil slick is the fuel.

That Brazil flight was found in Ocean weeks or months later, but it crashed. Depth may be an issue?

After seeing news tonight that all they have is an oil slick, unless you heard something I didn’t, then without debri is a bomb possible? Wouldn’t something be floating out there, or is it a nose dive by a pilot or terrorist holding gun to pilot’s head? Maybe more news tomorrow.

I mentioned the missiles due to Hillary’s comments,

I understand that, but those missiles are incapale of downing an airliner at that altitude. Takeoff and in the landing patterns are the engagement zone for those systems.

Those pics are of rockets, not SA missiles. Could they down an aircraft, oh yeah, but that isn’t their function. They are unguided.

If the slick is from the aircraft, there will be debris as well. Even if flown into the water, there will be debris.

Ok thanks. Why would they put a video about something not in the article?

I wondered about that, and I have not seen aircraft accidents other than tv, so not knowledgeable about what would show up.

Why not, it isn't like the care whether they are credible or not.
