A whopping 41% of people who are transgender or gender-nonconforming have attempted suicide sometime in their lives, nearly nine times the national average, according to a sweeping survey released three years ago.
In a new study released Tuesday, researchers dug deeper into that number, analyzing the results of the National Transgender Discrimination Survey to examine what puts transgender people at such "exceptionally high" risk.
Researchers from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law found that the risk of attempting suicide was especially severe for transgender or gender nonconforming people who had suffered discrimination or violence, such as being physically or sexually assaulted at work or school.
Among transgender people who became homeless because of bias against their gender identity, 69% said they had tried to kill themselves. Out of those who had been turned away by a doctor because they were transgender or gender-nonconforming, 60% had attempted suicide sometime in their lives, the survey found.

“Trying” is a fake number, “trying” is what drama queens do over and over.
People who want to kill themselves, do, and rarely fail.
A certain breed of these folks are also more narcissistic than the rest, hence desperate to feel “special.” If you won’t play along, they’ll use the system to force you to.
A mentally ill man in my neighborhood attempted to kill himself by setting his house on fire.
He was rescued and flown to the hospital in Tampa,which is an hour away from me.
Who would want to die in such a horrible way? I know he wasn’t well but dying in a fire would be excruciating.

You’d never guess this ‘man’ is really a biological female. It’s very disturbing.
Some methods really baffle me, I don’t even understand jumping to one’s death.
The only possible thing that might convince me to pour gasoline over myself and burn to death, would be if there was a mime close by, that I could hug, on my way out.
There was a show called Taxicab Confessions that was actually pretty good until they started to get more and more extreme with their fares. Anyway, this one guy had had the surgery, and he described to the cab driver how it had been done (”They split it like a banana split, stuff it inside,” etc.). Then, he said he felt suicidal partly because he didn’t get any sexual feeling from his fauxgina.
Good advice, but the inmates are running the asylum now and we normal people are considered the crazies.
All of the “transgender” people I have known have had other serious mental problems. So this isn’t particularly surprising.
Long ago I worked with a guy, 6’3” swarthy red head who by noon had nearly a full beard.
More psychological problems than a meeting of the Red Hat society.
Coupled with unverifiable data like the comment below creates basically useless numbers.

It is highly unlikely the research could verify why someone became homeless. These are mentally ill people, it is not surprising some are homeless.

Oh come on Chode, Even Dorothea Dix would have compassion on these people. The problem is we have to stop pandering to their mental illness and treat it!

Some of them that is true but for the younger ones it is a different story. They have bought into the lies of the older generation. The younger ones have never been told this is a mental illness, they are simply being treated by shinks as they need their gender changed and given the green light to do so. If any Christian Shrinks try to tell them different they get into trouble.
If Dorothea Dix were here she would tell them like it is. They are mentally ill and she would have found them a safe institution to be put in till they were better.

Even though I may exhibit a strong opposition to these things, it doesn’t mean we couldn’t do a better job in trying to help lead them away from their sin.
