I remember back in the late 90's Early 2000's all the games I played had Russia and the west as Allies now/near future. Then in the late 2000's they switched to being the big bad again.
Just something I noticed growing up.
Nothing is coincidental, who authored the games?

Oh I don't remember, the ones coming to mind right now is the first Command and Conquer Game. It had Russia in with the Good Faction
GDI, which of course had the U.S.A. in it too.
Now the Spin offs and Prequels had the Soviet Union as the villains. But they were set in the 50's and 70's.
The Original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare had Civil War in Russia and you had to fight the Ultra-Nationalist (which is why I did a doubt when I heard that term in regards to the Ukraine Crisis) but they Jumped the Shark with a Lame Red Dawn Eqase Invasion of the US in the Squeal.
