The United States is sending a dozen F-16 fighter jets to Poland as a part of a training exercise, amid continuing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, the Polish defence ministry said on Sunday.

Three hundred US service personnel will also be sent to Poland as part of the exercise. The deployment will be completed by Thursday.

Chuck Hagel, the US Secretary of State for Defence, and his Polish counterpart Tomasz Siemoniak agreed the deployment during a phone call, according to a statement from the Polish ministry.

"The unit will be composed of 12 F-16 planes and will transport 300 soldiers," defence ministry spokesman Jacek Sonta told AFP.

Add in the six F-15s and tanker sent earlier and that just about constitutes half of our fighter force. Verrrry impressive.

“”The unit will be composed of 12 F-16 planes and will transport 300 soldiers”

“That’s going to really make Putin quake in his boots.”

Stupid US gesticulation. Putin is responding tit-for-tat.

Russia had begun large-scale air defense drills, some 280 miles east of the Ukrainian border; 3,500 troops and over 1,000 units of military hardware for about a month. The exercise will culminate with live-firing drills, involving S-300, Buk-M1 and other air defense systems. “It is for the first time that all air defense units from the district, including coastal defenses of the Northern Fleet, have gathered in one place,” said the district’s spokesman, Col. Oleg Kochetkov.

The U.S. DOES need some real, live threat, be it ever so planned and fruitless. Our forces have to stay ready, so what BETTER way than to rattle our own sabers...just to test the waters.

I wouldn't be surprised if THIS is Putin's purpose as well.

“The unit will be composed of 12 F-16 planes and will transport 300 soldiers”

Aircrew, crew chiefs, specialists, weapons, support, debrief, production, fuels, sheet metal, metals tech, ammo, life support, and so on. That makes up pretty much all the “soldiers” who would be going on that deployment.

Heard today:
“Our friends don’t trust us...

THAT is good news. We shouldn't trust anyone, even our friends, in this world. Alliances have always been made for a reason and usually those reasons were self-serving.

...and our enemies don’t fear us.”
THAT is good news also. LET THEM not fear us. THAT is when people get cocky and let themselves fall into a coma of self-satisfaction and UNpreparedness.

I have the feeling that much of the above bad news comes from having a POTUS who is WEAK and USELESS!

Sorry, if my son was still in the Marines right now, I would strongly urge him to “Klinger” out. Our guys are fighting for Bambis manhood and greed. Parents’ dont let you kids grow up to join the military. I hate for having to say that. It kills me, knowing the pride with which my son served. But when he retired a years ago, he told me, Ma, I didn’t leave the Marines, they left me....

When Putin invaded the Crimea, the first words out of 0bama's mouth to his national sec. team should have been, "where are the carriers?"

Ivan doesn't like carrier battle groups.

0bama's incompetence or "flexibility," scares me more each day.

Is this news to you?
It's not to me.

My husband and I went to St. Petersburg in 2008. My husband was quite ill and had always wanted to see St. Petersburg. So we went.

After ALL the hyperbole that I've heard and read in the news and on the air, my husband and I agreed wholeheartedly on one thing: Russia still has a L - O - N - G ways to go to GET ONLY 50 years behind the rest of the West.

Gee I wonder if mac daddy will allow them to have ammo and if they will be able to respond to threats or like the border guards were told to run away if border crossers start throwing rock at them?

I guess if they have to check with mac daddy he will either be on vacation, golfing or having meeting, or doing something else, at the bath house.
