On Tuesday, Jon Stewart attempted to "slay" arguments regarding food stamp fraud on The Daily Show. In the video, Stewart spoke about the supposed hypocrisy of conservatives criticizing food stamp usage using a collection of Fox News videos.
When taken at face value, the comments may actually seem quite hypocritical. However, Stewart misses the real point: some items that can be purchased with SNAP ("food stamps") completely lack nutritional value, or are "luxury" foods like lobsters, steak, and organic salmon that don't really present an economically-friendly meal choice for someone who has trouble paying for food without government assistance. Also, Stewart didn't mention the fact that "food stamps" are actually referred to now as SNAP funds--SNAP being an acronym that stands for "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program." The program is not intended nor designed to cover an entire food budget.
Taxpayers should be upset that their well-intentioned dollars to prevent the poor from starvation are able to be spent on unhealthy food. That's the real controversy.
cant watch this leftist turd, nor the idiot who follows him.....
unwatchable without shooting the tv.
Stewart is nothing but a mouth piece for the low brows that think he is the “real media”. Another ass clown for the left.
If my local grocery store can identify specific items and credit me for gasoline discounts then it can identify which items should be eligible for SNAP purchases and which shouldn’t be.
Jon Stewart....on Commie Central.
Have that channel blocked along with MSNBC, CNN, amongst several others.
not me....I LOVE SOUTH PARK. of course the south park guys put it out there on the web...so I suppose I could block it. but I don't have to block anything...kids all growed...
and the wife and I don't consult with each other on what we watch as we never watch the same thing...
I have ABC,CBS,NBC, MSNBC, and CNN blocked
And of course the comedy channel
How come NOBODY talks about the food price inflation that occurs for the rest of us non food stamp users?
Because food stamps artificially increase demand.
Food Stamps likely cause obesity.
This is how the left propagandizes the citizenry. A “comedy” channel has a “comedian” offering disinformation to those (often/mostly younger people) who don’t follow real news. Once they have been made amenable to the message, they are easy marks.
I’m sure that is true. What is bizarre are all the advertisements and pleas for donations for our “millions who go to bed hungry every night”.
They must stay trapped in those beds. Because when you cruise the ‘hood, there aren’t many skinny folks on the street.
I dunno about these millennial hipster d-bag getting their “news” from Jon Stewart. They’d be better off just sticking to watching Spongebob Squarepants.

Imho, too few of them learn right and wrong from their parents. They grow up without a method of discerning morality or truth.
SO TRUE!! One reason my liberal mush-for-brains 20 yr old stepdaughter thinks Stewart, Colbert, etc. are "journalists" and as long as she keeps up with them, she is "informed."
Arrghhh, it is to weep.
I hear you. Today’s 20-30 year olds (and younger) have grown up in a maelstrom of multimedia. Without the analytic skills to understand what shows like these offer, they are almost defenceless.
When I’m in charge, there will be government stores that are the only place food stamps can be used. The government stores will have only basic foods, like meat, eggs, beans, rice, vegatables, fruits, etc, nothing pre-prepared, and no junk food, chips, or soda. Anybody going to one of these stores will have their food stamps canceled if they show up in a luxury vehicle, or if their children are obese.
And here I thought only I had this problem.
