BRENTWOOD - A Suffolk woman says she's the latest victim of the so-called "knockout game," the violent spree of attacks targeting innocent people who are minding their own business.
The woman, a 51-year-old Guatemalan immigrant, asked News 12 Long Island to conceal her identity because she says she's scared that her family will be targeted. She spoke with News 12 through a translator.
The woman says she was smashed in the face and knocked to the ground Friday by four teenagers as she walked home from the supermarket. She says it happened at the corner of MacArthur Avenue and Doolittle Street in Brentwood....

My local paper is worse than the Long Island press, it is a cross between the “New York Amsterdam News” and the “Gay City News”. However, both New York city papers are more honest in their “news” reporting than my local Hearst paper which appears to think Patti Hearst had it coming to her..
I’m puzzled why these attacks overwhelmingly occur outside the South. Since victims are alone when blindsided, fear of targeting an armed person doesn’t seem an issue. I wonder if “the Bible Belt” factor with more people, black and white, perhaps knowing right from wrong is the main reason we don’t see these current attacks or past race riots in Birmingham, Nashville, Charlotte, Atlanta, etc.?
How can this happen in such a wonderfully diverse area such as Brentwood Long Island? The area hasn’t been gentrified and destroyed like the Brooklyn that Spike Lee talks about. Why any time of the day or night you can get the oral history of the area from men hanging out drinking out of paper bags rather than doing uncle tom things like working. Leave your car unlocked and the locals will be more than helpful cleaning it out of valuables. The economy is good with all the money transfer to South America stores, check cashing and EBT is accepted at every ethnic store. The schools are subpar but learning takes place in small groups on how to get the most in benefits.
I know I used to live in Central Islip (adjacent to Brentwood)and I could only guess that it is the frustration of these youths that the overwhelming illegal population has been taking their piece of the pie.
Pound on whitey is nothing new. It has been going on since the victim culture started in the 1960’s.
They were Republicans?
So she could just sign up for Obamacare.
