Uninsured: Obamacare is Unaffordable
American Spectator ^ | 3/10/2014 | David Catron

A new survey confirms that the “Affordable Care Act” has failed to achieve one of its most important goals — making health coverage accessible to the uninsured. As the Washington Post reports, “Just one in 10 uninsured people who qualify for private health plans through the new marketplace have signed up for one.” Why so few? According to the survey, which was released last Thursday by McKinsey & Company, the most common reason cited by uninsured respondents was lack of affordability. Out of five possible reasons for failing to enroll, most chose, “I could not afford to pay the premium.”

That’s not likely to happen. If we do end up with single payer, only the insurance aspect of it will be socialized.

Health care will continue to be delivered privately like in Canada and people who want more than the basic plan can pay a doctor in cash.

And that’s important for people so sick that being on a waiting list effectively condemns them to die.

I think we’re headed in the direction of a hybrid public/private health care system. Pure single payer won’t work in this country and people should still have options available to them.

I remember Al Gore once said that property should revert back to the state so that your children could re-purchase it if they wanted it (by working their entire lifetime). I don’t recall one network featuring that quote or anybody talking about it afterwards. I am sure he has trusts and monies set aside for his progeny (unlike what he has in mind for the common folk).
