Greeley Barber Shop Refusing Customers That Smell Like Pot

A barber shop in Greeley refuses service to people who smell like marijuana.

The owner of Hugo’s Barber Shop said he felt he had to step in when it got bad.

“I feel that it’s my right to make the statement. It’s the same thing as no shoes no service,” said shop owner Hugo Corral.

When his customers, many of them with children, started expressing their frustration about the issue he decided it was time for a change.

“A mother calls and says hey we can’t go in there anymore because we don’t want it to smell like marijuana when my child’s sitting there waiting,” said Corral.

For the most part he said the response has been positive.

However not everyone sees it as a good move.

Corral said he’s been threatened with lawsuits and people trashing his window.

“People ripping the sign off, I’ve had to clean spit off my front door,” said Corral.

Despite the negative reaction from some, Corral said he’s going to keep the policy in place and says if people don’t like it they can go somewhere else.

According to a local attorney, Corral does have the right to refuse service to someone who has been smoking pot as long as it’s not a Constitutional issue involving a person’s race, religion or gender.

“People ripping the sign off, I’ve had to clean spit off my front door,”

...this is a commonality among liberals. All of them are vicious, petty and out of control. I thought pot was supposed to “mellow” you out?

True. They won’t let up either. Even if Hugo changes his mind, he’s been targeted. My Dad was a barber for 30 years. Super nice guy and a vet of WW11, Korea and 2 tours Vietnam. He never would’ve put up with this sh&&.

Wow. What a novel concept! Find someone who WANTS to do business with you...

I have a list of services I would not want someone performing for me if they have expressed their personal opposition to performing said services. Preparing food for me and cutting my hair are both in the top five on that last.

Don't people with a past history with marijuana have issue with getting stoned just by brathing air that smells of marijana? What impact does being exposed to marijuana smoke have on children...does anybody even know?

Besides which, I'm having trouble grasping that marijuana supposedly makes people mellow and yet all this violence is going on in this situation.

I actually have to ask these parents that want to run into court for custody if they smoke weed and tell them they aren’t smoking weed during the litigation.

--oh, come on now--where are the "civil rights" agitators--

--surely this guy should be forced to give haircuts to smelly customers, just as shop owners should be forced to bake cakes for those of whose lifestyle they don't approve--(sarc)

And sexual deviation.

Surely sounds like those potheads in CO are civilized folks, doesn’t it? Can you imagine what that state will look like in five years?

The only freedoms liberals really care about involves sex, drugs and general depravity.

I don’t know what it is about it, but there is a girl that works at the coffee shop in town and every once in a while she puts on a little patchouli oil. She doesn’t use an obnoxious amount, just a little touch. When I walk into the shop, I smell it and know she’s there, and it’s comforting.

I kinda like the smell of it, then again I like the smell of crude oil too.

Hmmm. "Homosexual" is not a gender.

Just saying'.
