Exclusive–Rand Paul: Stop Warping Reagan's Foreign Policy
breitbart ^ | March 9, 2014 | Rand Paul

Posted on 03/10/2014 10:09:36 AM PDT by jpsb

Every Republican likes to think he or she is the next Ronald Reagan. Some who say this do so for lack of their own ideas and agenda. Reagan was a great leader and President. But too often people make him into something he wasn’t in order to serve their own political purposes.

I like the way you think.

Gotta leave room for a Gowdy or a Chaffetz in there too. Just in case we need spares. ;-)

Reagan is partly to blame for Islamic militancy since he tucked his tail and ran after the barracks bombing.

Cruz won’t get very far with his Canadian birth certificate. He should get out of the way.

Probably not. John Boehner will probably start the investigations on Cruz' birth. Being a "birther" will soon be cool again just like is was when McCain's eligibility was required to be proven with documents.

As far as I'm concerned, Cruz could have been born in the Congo and he still gets my vote. Obama has set the precedence for this.

Let me see Obama be forced to prove his eligibility and be impeached if it's shown he was not eligible, then I'll take a second look at Cruz (though I know he is as eligible as John McCain was). Until then, birtherism is dead. Anybody who hides their documents are eligible today.

No, he is not partly to blame for Islamic militancy. Jimmy Carter, however, did a great job putting us in their sights.

Cruz is American, and fully qualified to run for president.

Reagan was correct to not let that shift his global operations, a weaker man would have responded emotionally and allowed it to change his plan.

Are you aware that as the bomb went off, an invasion of Grenada was already taking place and that American forces were already landing and in ground combat within 47 hours of that bombing?

In the Middle East, Reagan strategically pulled back our forces after the tragedy in Lebanon in 1983 that killed 241 Marines, realizing the cost of American lives was too great for the mission.
Without a clearly defined mission, exit strategy or acceptable rationale for risking soldiers lives, Reagan possessed the leadership to reassess and readjust.

Rand leaves out the part that as the bomb went off, invasion forces were steaming towards Grenada.

Before the week was over, we had invaded and conquered that nation.

Reagan fought and defeated the Soviet empire. What have you done? If you want to blame anyone for the rise of radical Islam blame Jimmy C.

Calling Grenada a nation is quite a stretch. Grenada is 133 sq mi, with an estimated population of 110,000. Grenada is a tiny Caribbean island.

Wow, Grenada is a country. Rand Paul managed to leave out the part that an invasion was taking place when the bomb in Beirut went off, Reagan was a little busy and was right not to let the bombing disrupt his global plan.

If using the word nation bothers you, remember that it is often used. “It has been exactly twenty years since the U.S. forces invaded Grenada, ending that Caribbean island nation’s four-year socialist experiment.”

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'
Sen. Rand Paul is hammering his fellow senators for keeping billions in financial aid flowing to Egypt's military -- even as Cairo's security forces massacre anti-government activists. [by "anti-government activists" is meant church-burning Christian-murdering jihadists]
