Now isn’t that some great news? Reports have been rolling in from Texas – the state where 40 Days for Life began – that abortion facilities are shutting down left and right. The latest closures include three businesses where faithful 40 Days for Life volunteers have prayed on the sidewalks outside for years. Plus – there’s another abortion center where volunteers are very hopeful that the business they’re praying in front of will soon join the list. Here are the details.

The three businesses closing are Whole Woman’s Health in Beaumont and McAllen, along with Reproductive Services in Harlingen.
The team in Beaumont had just started their ninth 40 Days for Life vigil. “God is so good,” said Eileen in Beaumont, who thanked many volunteers for their hard work and leadership. “Should we have a party now?” Yes! A celebration of the Lord’s victory would definitely be in order.
McAllen’s team was just beginning their eighth campaign. And five 40 Days for Life vigils have been held at the abortion facility in Harlingen.
Danny Anderson of Pregnancy Testing Centers of the Valley sent me a picture from Harlingen — that’s him standing next to the real estate sign outside the closed abortion center. His reaction to the news? “Praise God!”
The public awareness and prayers have hurt the abortion business … along with the tireless work of many pro-lifers working on legislation. A new Texas law requires abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital in order to offer abortions. And it seems many of the hospitals just aren’t interested in granting those privileges! Praise God indeed!

40 Days for Life campaign number 12 got under way with a candlelight kickoff in Birmingham … and one big difference from their earlier vigils. “This Planned Parenthood has not had its front door unlocked for customers for over two months,” said Ed in Birmingham. There is an occasional lone employee, but never any clients. The last abortion performed there was in late December.
“Since their web site says that their services have ‘slowed’ and lists only a contact number with no hours of operation,” Ed said, “we continue our 40 Days for Life vigil in thanksgiving for each day they remain closed — and in prayerful petition for a permanent closure announcement.”

yes but they’ve been praying and vigiling for years and now the prayers are answered. the new laws have taken down a bunch. also some are gone as the abortionists don’t have admitting privileges at any nearby hospital. also some have retired. whatever, they’re closed.
Sadly, cleaner clinics will likely open eventually.
A stopgap is better than nothing but we need a constitutional amendment to shut down the courts.
probably not. there is no new crop of young “doctors” to take over in the glamorous world of abortions.
I’m very happy about this but greatly tempered when I realize that abortifacients take the place of many of the former abortions. So we have to pray the drug-induced murders go away as well.
Instead of these hail-mary passes trying to end abortion outright, do what the Left does and start passing regulations and holding abortion centers to the same standards as hospitals and clinics, kill public funding, and educate young people on abortion, work with state legislatures to pass restrictions on abortion, and force minors to get parental authorization.
The pro-death crowd was unstoppable back then, because they had the narrative that abortion was "safe, legal, and rare" and brought up coat hangers and back-alley abortions and all that crap. We all know now that this is a big fat lie, but back then the pro-life movement was the political equivalent of the Occupy Wall Street protestors.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Pro-lifers have been doing many, many things for years. If you’re referring to Operation Rescue people blocking the doors of abortion clinics, they did it with passive, non-violence and were often shown violence. While they blocked the doors, sidewalk counselors talked to the women about the reality of abortion and offered help. Pro-lifers are always accused by people who don’t know anything what they should do, when they have been doing it for years, praying, helping, providing material goods, encouragement, homes, adoptive families, help if the woman chose to keep her baby, many practical helps.
