New York Post ^ | March 10, 2014

A US Army physician came home from a tour in Afghanistan to find that his little princess had turned into a porn star. Devout Catholic Dr. Kevin Weeks was stunned by the news, but told relatives he and his wife are still supportive of Miriam, a Duke University freshman who has been having sex on camera to pay for her huge tuition bill.

Good point..Kudos!!.and it hasn’t been addressed enough. “hooking up” is now the prevalent cultural norm on most campuses..casual sex...no emotional attachment...have an itch..scratch it...all she’s doing “differently” is getting paid for it..

You left out the most obvious surgical investment needed.

They haven't perfected brain transplants yet.

If I were Dad, I’d be more worried about what people are thinking I was up to with my daughter that turned her into a porn start. The pathway to porn is pretty well established, and a warm fuzzy childhood isn’t part of the recipe.

Dad’s a doctor but she has to ‘work’ her way thru college?

Even if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't pay for my daughter to get a degree in Womyn's Studies or Sociology, at any university.

She didn’t want to get away with it...when a reporter from the Duke student newspaper heard the rumors and confronted her, she never tried to deny it. In fact, she was interviewed on several occasions, knowing full well that a story was forthcoming.

This is a carefully calculated stunt to put her on top in the porn world (pun intended). Looking at the photo, I’m guessing there are far more attractive women in the “industry,” and her so-called career wouldn’t last more than a couple of years. But with this flood of publicity, she is now the best-known porn actress in America, a dubious distinction at best.

This is reminiscent of Michael Sam’s recent coming out, which was aimed at moving him up in the NFL draft and getting him on a roster.

I feel sorry for the young woman’s family. Absolutely no sympathy for her.

Well, I think college student have always had casual sex with each other. That’s certainly the way it was in my day (last 70s, early 80s). But back then no girls I knew would have dreamed of having sex on camera, to be posted where anyone could see it. Even naked photos were taboo back then.

parents and everyone still have the right to condemn sin.

Jesus told the woman “go,and sin no more”.

Really supportive means wanting the person to live right.

I submit that there is no way that this young lady is getting a much, much better education than I did.

No, but she's got lots more Associate and Assistant Deans and Associate and Assistant Provosts and Vice Presidents (or Vice Chancellors), with much larger office staffs, to look out for her while she's getting her education than you did when you were getting your education.

And because of that endowment, almost no Duke students actually pay the rack-rate of $60K per year.

Private universities and colleges with fat endowments only charge rack-rate tuition to folks from well-heeled families who barely made the admissions cut. Everyone else gets scholarships in amounts based on how much the university wants the person to come. We paid the equivalent of in-state tuition at a state school to send our daughter to a private liberal arts college on the East Coast with a rack-rate tuition of $45K/year: she was from Kansas (geographic diversity!) and entered with enough college credits that she’d have walked in the door of a state university as a second-semester sophomore (with calc, freshman comp, and her whole language requirement for a B.A. out of the way) — they jolly well wanted her to come, and gave her big scholarships plus work-study jobs.

Although Duke’s net price is around $60K per year, it’s more likely that her family is being asked to contribute in the neighborhood of $15K - $20K, and she’s being asked to contribute several thousand per year (under $5K) from work, and maybe take $5K in loans.

She isn’t doing this to pay $60K per year in tuition, room and board, and fees to Duke.

. Porn and prostitution, along with abortion, are sacred to people in “women’s studies”.

Ahh, yes, the three Holy Sacraments of the "womyn's movement".

What man in their right mind will want to hire or marry these women?

There is a challenge, progressives, show your tolerance! Hire or marry a porn actress to prove that you're not just mouthing slogans!

Yes. All kids should have to work toward their future. If it is not earned it is not valued.

There is a Duke alum by the name of Taylor Max, who wrote a bunch of books about his debauchery during his law school days at Duke.

One thing he exposed was that attending class to pass was not required. He showed up during the last two weeks, crammed, and passed all his classes. Being an entrepreneur, he decided to work in Mexico as a tour guide for college age kids coming to Mexico to party. He’d spend most of the quarter doing that job, come home, take his exams, and then fly back.

He did that for at least two years of his Duke stay. The ABA passed some sort of rule that has as its nickname the ‘Taylor Max’ rule that was supposed to close this embarrassing loop hole.

He said the toughest thing about law school was getting in. From there, it was about test taking. He didn’t learn much applicable law, and his friends who appear in his books all landed jobs with top tier firms and did fine.

These are the guys running the country now.

Calculus anyone?
