One of the two men who boarded Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 with a stolen passport was identified as a 19-year-old Iranian with no known terrorist connections, authorities said at a press conference today.
Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said the man, named Pouria Nour Mohammad Mehrdad, was likely trying to enter Germany to seek asylum. His mother contacted authorities after he didn't arrive in Frankfurt.
The other man who boarded the flight with a stolen passport has not been identified.
The announcement was the first certain piece of news in what has become a baffling mystery over the fate of the missing jetliner. Earlier Tuesday, authorities expanded their search for the Boeing 777 on the opposite side of the countrys coast from where it disappeared days ago with 239 people on board.

This reminds me of that Twilight zone episode where the plane hits the Jet stream and goes back in time and “no trace of her was ever found”. It could have been BOO who blew it up (Brothers of Obama) but I have a funny feeling it’s something else entirely.

Yeah, let’s listen to Khalid Abu Bakar, and all the official denials that this was a terrorist act.
I can really only think of one scenario where a plane completely disappears from radar and then existence without any mayday call.
It involves either a surface to air missile, an air to air missile, or a bomb smuggled on board somehow.
if it were the latter, I think someone would have claimed credit for there successful terrorist act by now. If it were the former, I think the responsible government would be very carefully covering things up.
Or......as is most likely the case, they were trying to escape Iran.
Fisherman Azid Ibrahim, 66, in Kota Baru, told the New Strait Times that an airplane appeared to fly low below the clouds which he followed for about five minutes before it disappeared. He was out at the sea with six other fishermen about 14.4 km (8.9 miles) from Kuala Besar in Pantai Cahaya Bulan.
Ibrahim said the plane was flying so low that he could see its lights "as big as coconuts". He had spotted the plane with his friend at about 1:30am local time, while all his fellow fishermen were fast asleep in the boat.
"I only heard about the plane yesterday. My friend, Pak Da asked me where the plane was heading to at this time of night," Ibrahim said, adding it was flying lower than usual.
The fisherman reported the incident to the police the next morning after he heard the news of the missing plane around the coast, and his account was telecast by a local broadcaster RTM.
About 30 km (18.6 miles) away from Kota Baru, businessman Alif Fathi Abdul Hadi, 29, lodged a report with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) that he saw "bright white lights", descending fast into the sea at about 1:45am the same day.
He was going towards the backyard of his house when he saw the "white lights" as used in planes during night flights, heading towards Bachok, which was unusual, according to him.
"I was walking towards the rear of my house when I saw the lights, and wondered where it was heading to," he said.
"The airspace here is like a highway for aircraft and they usually travel in route patterns, but this one went completely towards the other way.
"..It was going towards the sea, near Bachok."
But, he admitted, he was not sure if the white lights were actually from a plane, adding there were no blinking red lights, and that the "white lights" vanished behind a line of coconut trees.
Alif did not consider this unusual and did not think much about it, until he too heard about the missing jetliner the next day, and filed the report with the authorities.
The "eyewitnesses", however, did not describe any accompanying sound of the plane's impact with the sea upon the claimed crash.
Saying that these 2 were likely not terrorists, doesn’t rule out a terrorist act by someone else.
Or maybe one Iranian “asylum seeker” was so important to the Iranian regime that the second Iranian went on the plane just to bring the whole thing down. /s

Two different flight radar tracks. Two different locations of disappearance. One involves a second (unidentified) plane also disappears
also mentions MH370 sudden rise by 10k feet from 30k cruising altitude prior to disappearance.
The lack of debris found so far leads to the assumption that the plane went into the water intact, for the most part at least. If the plane broke apart at altitude there would be pieces and parts scattered for miles.

If it was a successful bombing, there is an explanation for why no credit has been claimed. It was just a trial run, a proof of concept. Let's say, for example, they have coopted the night shift at a Pakistani shaving cream factory, and have managed to load bombs into perfect metal cans of shaving cream. They might have dozens of them, but they need to prove that they will take down an airliner.
If that is the case, now they know, but we don't know.
So on a given day, 20 jihadists board aircraft, with very simple instructions: make sure that your shaving cream can bomb is in the air at noon GMT on a certain day.
This concept would be similar to the thwarted "Operation Bojinko" from circa 2000. The goal is to blow up a dozen or more jetliners over the ocean at the same time.

Contact is lost
At 18:58, the aircraft established two-way radio contact with Shanwick Oceanic Area Control in Prestwick on frequency 123.95 MHz. At 19:02:44, the clearance delivery officer at Shanwick transmitted its oceanic route clearance. The aircraft did not acknowledge this message. The Clipper Maid of the Seas’ “squawk” then flickered off. Air Traffic Control tried to make contact with the flight, with no response. It was at this time that a loud sound was recorded on the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) at 19:02:50. Five radar echos fanning out appeared, instead of one. Comparison of the cockpit voice recorder to the radar returns showed that, eight seconds after the explosion, the wreckage had a 1-nautical-mile (1.9 km) spread. A British Airways pilot, flying the GlasgowLondon shuttle near Carlisle, called Scottish authorities to report that he could see a huge fire on the ground.
Disintegration of aircraft
The explosion punched a 20-inch (0.51 m)-wide hole on the left side of the fuselage. Investigators from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) concluded that no emergency procedures had been started in the cockpit. The cockpit voice recorder, located in the tail section of the aircraft, was found in a field by police searchers within 24 hours. There was no evidence of a distress signal; a 180-millisecond hissing noise could be heard as the explosion destroyed the aircraft's communications centre. Although the explosion was in the aircraft hold, the effect was magnified by the large difference in pressure between the aircraft's interior and exterior. The steering cables disrupted, the fuselage pitched downwards and to port.
I was on Pan Am Flight 103 in late October. I connected with another Pan Am flight from Amsterdam. Security was very tight in Amsterdam. Tighter than after 9/11. The Dutch Royal Marines surrounded the Pan Am Gate with weapons. We were frisked twice and then had to go through a one on one detailed suitcase search (every inch of my suitcase was searched while I was standing there. Usually you give up your suitcase upon entering the airport. My suitcase was brought to me at the gate and that is where it was searched). I thought it was weird at the time. The security in Heathrow was very lax. About two months later I was sitting at a bar during a Christmas get together when the first pictures of the downed Pan Am Flight 103 was reported. I thought that it was determined that the bomb was supposed to go off when the plane was over water instead of over land.

True. But they would have had to return. At least one of them had family in Germany, so it sounds like Malaysia was just a jumping off point. My guess is that it was a country that gave them a visa with their Iranian passports. European visas aren’t easy to get.

When this was first reported a few days ago, they were saying that they were 2 hours into the flight when it disappeared off radar. One talking head “expert” said that if the plane stayed on flight plan, it would have put the plane somewhere around Hainan Island. Now, I’m reading reports that they were only about a half hour into the flight, somewhere over th Gulf of Thailand.

Terrorist also stopped taking credit as they know the reprisal will be overwhelming. So, they terrorize and shut up, simply letting people wonder what is going on. The idea seems to be not to take credit but to harm. The harming of infidels is their pleasure. Taking credit to raise awareness to their cause means nothing anymore. They don’t care to change us by obtaining sympathy for their cause. They simple want to harm.
Oh that’s right, it could have been a mistake. What was that one case where the Navy was practicing and they accidentally shot down a passenger plane? Was that the US? I vaguely remember something like that. That wasn’t covered up though.
Security Breach’ Probed In Missing Aircraft Case (Updated)

Malaysian officials have confirmed they’re investigating a “security breach” at Kuala Lumpur Airport involving Flight MH370 and that they’re now looking for links between four passengers and the Chinese Uighur militant Muslim movement. Uighur militants killed 29 people last week in a grisly knife attack at a Chinese train station and the timing of the aircraft disappearance is considered suspicious according to sources quoted by CBC News. Security officials are combing CCTV footage of the security screening area and are interviewing the screeners. At least two of the passengers were believed to have been traveling on stolen passports while the other two that are the focus of the probe may have had Ukrainian passports. All of the passengers who required them had Chinese entry visas but China has recently allowed an exemption to its stringent visa requirements that permits transient passengers to skip applying for an entry visa. The two men flying on what were believed to be stolen visas had booked flights through to Europe. Meanwhile reports that debris had been spotted turned out to be false and the search continues.
I would suspect that anyone named Mohammad could be a terrorist.

If a foreign-flag airliner were hijacked and flown to Iran by Quds uglies with dissident Iranian political refugees on board, who were then summarily arrested in Bandar Abbas or wherever on arrival and given a show trial, that would be a real propaganda coup (or "information operation" as those people like to say) for the Quds mouth-breathers.
