For years now I have been telling a Jewish friend and business associate that Obama would betray Israel when it most counted. Every time I pointed out some event or statement that supported my conclusion he always seemed to grasp at any argument to continue to ignore the obvious. Apparently he now sees Obama’s moving away from this long standing quid-pro-quot recognition requirement for a two state deal as revealing enough to get over his long held liberal delusions about Obama attitude towards Israel (and Jews) in general. I wish I took no pleasure in having him admit I was right all along, because the implications for the future of Israel are not something neither of us want to contemplate.
