That film was so telling... One of my favorite movies when it came out. It should be considered a documentary now.

Senator Feinstein, before you pursue this any further, would you like to consider the contents of this folder regarding how your husband got the exclusive deal to sell off post offices around the entire country?

And the press only cares when a democrat complains.. Can we assume the head of this committee is a democrat?

I know this is just an except, and it is written by the AP, but ...

The head of the Senate Intelligence Committee

Which is a Democrat Dianne Feinstein whose staffers stole top secret documents from the CIA ...

...improperly searched a stand-alone computer network established for Congress as part of its investigation

There is no "Stand Alone" network in the US government, all are covered by FOIA and all must meet government standards ...

Plus Congress established a network that only its chosen few could use??

...allegations of CIA abuse in a Bush-era detention and interrogation program.

So Obama's CIA suspected Feinstein's staffers of theft, and she throws this back in their face? Pure power play and back office backstabbing.

From another thread ...

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said the activities of agency officials "May have undermined the constitutional framework" of congressional oversight.

The situation amounted to an attempted intimidation of congressional investigators, she said, adding: "I am not taking it lightly."

First time she has ever worried about the Constitution's framework. After all, she thinks that it is outmoded and outdated.

I would argue that it has already been exposed...the problem is that no one in power will do anything about it.

This time, whatever remains of the CIA was probably tracking down dangerous anti-American activity. Oops, how could this possibly lead to the offices of the San Francisco Democrat and “Leaky” Leahy? Probably an excuse to root out remaining conservatives in our intelligence agencies.

I made the following comments to another earlier today in between a very busy week: Now that I've read some details (below, from 3/11)... http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/feinstein-cia-searched-intelligence-committee-computers/2014/03/11/982cbc2c-a923-11e3-8599-ce7295b6851c_story.html

Through press reports, officials alleged that the CIA had searched computers intended to be used solely by the panel as part of its investigation. The searches, officials said, were conducted in an effort to determine how committee staff members had gained access to a draft version of an internal agency review of its controversial interrogation program.

The computers had been provided by the CIA and were housed at a separate facility in Virginia operated by agency contractors.

Agency officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, have previously said that Senate investigators accessed documents to which they were not entitled.

...I smell a smokescreen. How is it spying if the computers were provided by the CIA for accessing CIA files at a CIA-contractor-operated facility?

From here on the 5th http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/cia-draws-scrutiny-over-searching-senate-panels-computers-for-interrogation-data/2014/03/05/5d93ac66-a4a4-11e3-a5fa-55f0c77bf39c_story.html

The CIA searched computers intended to be used solely by the Senate Intelligence Committee in an apparent effort to determine how committee staff members gained access to a draft version of an internal agency review of its controversial interrogation program, U.S. officials said.
Sounds damning. But the WP goes on to allude to the revelation at top here

Much of the work on the study, which cost $40 million and began in 2009, was done in a secure facility leased by the CIA in Northern Virginia. In an unusual arrangement, the agency set up computers in a locked room to which only the committee would have access, according to officials and court documents.
CIA documents were transferred to the secure system, including, apparently, a version of the internal review, officials said.
The CIA created “a segregated” network drive that allowed the committee to “prepare and store [its] work product,” in a secure environment, according to a document filed in litigation over the report’s release.
“One key principle” in this arrangement was that the materials created by the committee “are the property of the committee” and “remain congressional records in their entirety,” said Neal Higgins, the CIA’s director of congressional affairs, in a declaration filed in response to a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union seeking the report’s release.
Well, then, the 'internal review' they assert the CIA accessed was a CIA file, on a CIA computer. I'm not delving into the matter of the 'internal review' being different from one provided Congress, just that this is much ado about nothing given the fact that Congress is selectively investigating anything related to this administration. Something stinks. This is either 'keystone cops', with our intel agencies becoming totally amateur, or this was set up to create a situation, a 'media crisis' (or circus?) if you will... I mean, seriously (from the WP article on the 5th):

The CIA notified the committee of the search after the fact,...

Huh???? Wow.

And recall, again, that this was all over "Bush-era interrogation techniques"...

Just an observation & .02...
