Two stolen passports, the subject of intense scrutinty by investigators, were used by two men identified as Iranian nationals, but new information tends to discount terrorism as a motive.
The international police agency released photos showing the two boarding the plane at the same time. They are identified as 19-year-old Pouri Nourmohammadi and 29-year-old Delavar Seyedmohammaderza.
Malaysian Police Inspector General Khalid Tan Sri says the 19-year-old was likely trying to migrate to Germany.
"We have been checking his background. We have also checked him with other police organizations on his profile, and we believe that he is not likely to be a member of any terrorist group," the inspector told reporters. "And we believe that he is trying to migrate to Germany."
Khalid said Nourmohammadi's mother knew he was traveling on a stolen passport.
The other man's identity is still under investigation. But the development reduces the likelihood they were working together as part of a terror plot.
Meanwhile, an extensive review of all of those on board continues.

Who doesn’t blow themselves up when they’re moving to another country? Makes perfect sense to me.
The article just says that the Iranians were not related to terrorism, but to “human smuggling.” They were being smuggled into a European country by an Iranian they had paid for this service.
However, it doesn’t say the disappearance is not terror-related. Bad headline.
Holy cr@p! The name `mohammed’ is buried in BOTH names!
This was aerial jihad, count on it.
With all the tracking devices built into airplanes, they can’t just “lose” one. They know where it is and just aren’t saying anything.
Yep. What is going on here??
Meanwhile ... every alphabet agency remains on high alert as should have been prior to this flight.
Do you think the plane is in perfect shape and the ransom-able passengers whisked off somewhere by boat?

Getmeout raises question: why is Interpol monkeying with these photos?
Why do both men have the same lower region in the photos? Those are two top halves of different men, but the green pants and shoes and floor tiles are from one person.
Seems kinda strange that the two Irani’s in the picture are carrying the same package.

If you look at the picture on the left, it’s just the one picture overlaid over the top of the other. There is a clear break(white line) that separates the bottom of the top picture with the other. I doubt any nefarious intentions were meant.
It was man caused climate change that brought that plane down. The polar vortex pushed south by the melted arctic ice cap has displaced the Bermuda Triangle to the Indian Ocean...yeah that’s the ticket. Whatever the calamity its always man caused climate change as the root cause....just ask Al Gore. (satire)
RE: Who doesnt blow themselves up when theyre moving to another country? Makes perfect sense to me.
Have they conclusively established that the plane was blown up?
So why not show his real lower half? Too strange. If you are wanting people to believe you, you only change things blatantly if you are the vacationer in chief. I mean did mac-daddy loan out his personal photoshopper? Just darn sloppy and unnecessary if there was nothing to hide. jmo
If the plane continued to show up on military radar flying hundreds of miles west of its assigned track, then the transponder stopped working or was turned off and the aircraft continued to fly and is unlikely to have “disintegrated” in air
Does design allow transponders to be “turned off” or subject to aircraft electrical system?
Why not a self contained battery operated near-indestructible black box or some type of autonomous GPS tag?

I’m sure they’ll take that into consideration the next time...
