KHERSON, Ukraine – Ukrainians in the Kherson province just north of Crimea say Russian operatives have moved into the territory, an incursion which, if true, could show Vladimir Putin has more than just the Black Sea peninsula in his sights.

Residents of the village of Chonhar, in the Kherson region of Ukraine, say Russian troops showed up last week in armored personnel carriers, prompting the dispatch of Ukrainian troops and a standoff. The suspected Russian troops pulled back and established a checkpoint on a major road leading north from the Crimean capital of Simferopol.

mobilize, talk tough, and beef up the border, then see what Russia does.

That might result in a skirmish that Putin will make into his green men being attacked. It seems, the Ukraine's game at this point is to maximize NATO's diplomatic, economic and possibly military involvement, while pointing out that they are no match for the Sovs. The less it looks like Ukraine sharing some blame in the event of bloodshed, the better.

I’m talking to people in Ukraine and they say the same thing.

In fact some of them are now referring to Putin as Putler! It’s a snide attempt to compare him to Hitler, they’re so pissed right now.

The Crimeans DO NOT want to be back under Russian control.

If they can't do the "independence" thing without being independent, what the heck do they want?

The colonies waited until they were given assurances from France that they would back them before they declared independence. We had already established at least one country that was willing to provide military support before we made the move to separate from Great Britain.

The Ukraine has no military ally. They are not in a position to take on Russia alone. If Putin wants all of the Ukraine, he has no obstacle in front of him.

After the Ukraine comes Lativa, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland. Did I leave anyone out?

I agree. Every voice I’ve heard that is experienced with the military says that Putin can have the Ukraine with no international interference.

I’m not sure that holds elsewhere, but it’s dicey. Germany, for example, will NOT return East Germany.

If we had any kind of economic strength we could extend an ABM shield to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland. We would announce a new round of nuclear tests. We would beef up our military.

But, since our economy has been driven into the ground by Obama, there’s no threat we can really offer.

Ukraines’ Acting PM calls on Western nations today to help ‘defend’ against Russian invasion. No doubt they want the US to Militarily come to their defense....but Nato might just do so with US backing....IMO Kerry and diplomacy do not ever belong in the same sentence!

I expect we will do nothing, it is too late, Obama has the talking softly and carrying big stick part down wrong, he squeaks loudly, and carries a limp wrist.

Obama: Squawk Loudly and Carry a Limp Wrist....

Obama’s scuttling all the Political under girding ...and in discussions with IMF, World Bank, and various other nation leaders...and they are already confirming their partnership with Obama...including many of the former USSR nations on board.......Obama’s on a fast roll to “secure Ukraine” for the USA.....and the EU and Nato have been going there for years to set the stage of all we see now coming together for Ukraine.....conditions to the billions and numerous help committees he’s appointing to go there to “rebuild” Ukraine ..is they MUST allow our Missils and Missil sites on their land.

Big game of check-mate happening to stop Putin from imagining he can go further than Crimea....which that’s a done deal..it goes to Russia.

Now watch the following move like lightening....

My message at Congressional briefing on At NATO. Strategic response to Ukraine = enlarge to Macedonia,... Montenegro;......MAP to Bosnia, ....Georgia.

Jimmy Kimmel needs to send a reporter out to downtown LA and ask people if they know what Crimea is,or something like, how do you feel about Nabisco planning to remove “Crimea” off the shelves because of a recent high fructose scare.,,,I would imagine many of them think its a coffee creamer.

Only about 25 countries, ending with Britain.

On the positive side, he might deal with the Muslims there.

I doubt Putin will resist the chance to grab it.

I dunno... he may really have met his match with John Kerry. Did you know Kerry served in Viet Nam?
