Republican David Jolly won the special election to fill the House seat left vacant by the death of his former boss, Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.).

With nearly all of the votes counted Tuesday night, Jolly had 48.5 percent of the vote to Alex Sink’s 46.7 percent. Libertarian Lucas Overby had 4.8 percent.

Sink lost the 2010 governor’s race to Rick Scott. The Democratic Party sunk extensive ad funding into the congressional battle, and DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) tried to paint the loss as a positive.

Very impressive.

The “libertarian to bleed R votes” and win with a Clintonian plurality failed.

Anti-regime sentiment in this district was strong.

Soooo....Obama carried the district, even Sink carried it in her pathetic run for governor, and now she loses due to GOP weakness. Got it. Apparently too much mayo in the scalp is damaging to brain cells.

Sink got Sunk! And now we have the Cruella LaGru of the RAT “brain trust” telling everyone that this was really a win! I am betting that the years of putting mayonnaise on her hair has finally affected whatever existed inside her head in terms of a brain.

Sink ran for Governor against Scott so she had name recognition while Jolly never held office. Obama carried this district in 2008 and 2012, as did Sink when she ran for Governor. As DNC Chairman wanted this more than jar of Hellmans. That’s why they were overspending on a special election that will be run again in about 8 months.

“You’re darn right that our candidates are going to run on the advantage that Obamacare will be going into the 2014 election,’’ proclaimed Debbie Wasserman Schultz late last year.

But what now, Debbie? The Democrats can’t have a Plan B because they think they’re always right.

Funny to see Dems try to spin this in their favor when all day all they have been doing is gloating thinking they had this election in the bag. Yes, it is a leaning Republican District but its also an area that Obama won TWICE and if Dems were SO convinced that this loss is “No big deal” how come they spent so much money(Overspending Jolly overwhelmingly in this race) if they thought they didnt have a chance to win anyway

Come on folks, we’ve been going over those numbers for decades now. The LP isn’t stealing conservative votes in larger numbers than they are stealing from the liberals.

" Republicans fell short of their normal margin in this district because the agenda they are offering voters has a singular focus – that a majority of voters oppose – repealing the Affordable Care Act that would return us to the same old broken health care system,” Wasserman Schultz said in a DNC rapid response statement."

So, is this silly b!tch say that Dims are going to run on Obamacare?

We can only hope.

"This was with a Libertarian taking 10% of the vote too."

Not so. The article states the Libertarian took 4.8%.

However it was a significant number and shows how easy it is for malcontents to throw an election. Lets hope the kamikaze Conservatives don't end up allowing Hillary to win.

Ralph Nader cost Al Gore Florida and therefore the entire election. The nut jobs on both ends of the political spectrum are a danger to themselves as well as the rest of us.

Go ahead and vote your heart in primaries, but use your head in general elections.

When Alex Sink ran for Governor in 2010, she carried this locale (Pinellas County) with a plurality 50.52% against overall FL winner Rick Scott. Sink’s support is down the drain.

Now you did it. The purists will come out of their lair and rain pure bile on you.

If you don't stay perfectly right, you are no better than the libs.

There are purists here at FR that continue to say that obama is no worse than Mitt would have been.

Makes me wanna puke in their dope stash.
