49er Head Coach Jim Harbaugh was Martin's Head Coach at Stanford, too.

Might be a good fit.

I misread the last word as having an 'r' after the 'p'.

(Well, it is the NFL and it is San Francisco, right? Right!)

Martin is due less than $1 million in pay this year, so it's a pretty low risk gamble for the 49ers.

On the negative side, Martin never lived up to expectations at Miami.

Also, several NFL scouts and GM’s have said that they were concerned about Martin's lack of toughness BEFORE he was drafted, and they felt that Martin was drafted way too high.

Maybe he thought he was going to the San Francisco 69ers?

Harbaugh was the head coach who got Martin drafted that high. It's a no-risk move for the 49ers - they gave up a conditional 7th round pick. They really don't need Martin for anything but depth, they have one of the best OLs in football, and both of their starting tackles made it to the Pro Bowl last season. And if Martin gets it together, they get a 2nd round talent for one of the last picks in the 2015 draft.

Scratching my head over trading for Blaine Gabbert, however - did this guy ever do anything in Jacksonville?

Relax about Gabbert. If he has any potential to play QB Harbaugh will turn him into a starter. Look at what he did with Alex.

Yes, Martin got a lot of free publicity for protecting Andrew Luck's blind side.

Besides that, no one in Miami knew that Martin had psychological issues at Stanford, too, before he was drafted.

It would be interesting to find out if Harbaugh knew that, and if he told his own brother, Baltimore coach John Harbaugh.

As far as I know, Martin has not filed a lawsuit against the Dolphins, but the Dolphins did pay him his entire 2013 salary.

I'm guessing Martin won't sue, because the Dolphins can claim that he withheld material information before signing his contract.

Blaine Gabbert.....

Yeah, that's another mystery.

The 49ers gave up a 6th Round choice for him.

He took 40 sacks his rookie year.

Maybe Harbaugh wants to see what the guy can do behind a good O-Line?

I would gamble on Tim Tebow before I'd gamble on Gabbert.

And I wouldn't give up more than a 7th Round pick for either one of them.

I didn’t think Martin would be staying on that other team, too many bridges burned, too much dirty laundry aired for the entertainment of the public. Harbaugh may be able to work with him though. I get the impression, Harbaugh would not let the preceived bullying spin so far out of control before he stepped in to bring order. The other coach expected his players to maintain their own rules of the pecking order.

Maybe Martin is not the bad guy here.

from various news sources:

“Miami Dolphins left guard Richie Incognito was admitted to a psychiatric care facility in Arizona on Thursday night, per a report by TMZ that was confirmed by NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington.”
