FLASHBACK:
MMM, as she is sometimes called, is a hero in the Clinton White House. A one-term member of Congress, she cast the decisive vote in the House on Aug. 5, 1993, that ensured passage of President Clinton’s economic stimulus plan. That plan is seen by Democrats as having revived a recession economy. But it cost the congresswoman her reelection.
FLASHBACK:

Last Thursday night, the first-term Montgomery County Democrat not only voted for President Clinton’s budget bill after saying repeatedly that she opposed it, but also cast the deciding vote.
The Republicans have pounced on Margolies-Mezvinsky’s vote and have dubbed her their “No. 1 Target” for defeat next year.
So, is this it for the first-term Democrat who represents a conservative Republican district?
Maybe, maybe not.
It depends on how she explains her vote - and who runs against her next year.
“I think what she has to do is clearly and unmistakably say why she changed her mind,” said Terry Madonna, director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Millersville University.
The Republicans’ attack began even before Margolies-Mezvinsky voted.
As she walked to the floor to vote, Republicans began chanting, “Goodbye, Marjorie.”
Later, House Republican leaders gleefully announced she was being given the ‘’Golden Flip-Flop Award.”
For all the attention and Republican bluster, Margolies-Mezvinsky seemed remarkably calm on Friday.
She said calls to her office were running about even.
“They (constituents) know they sent me down here to make tough decisions,” she said. “It was a tough decision, but one I’m very proud of.”

“Margolies-Mezvinsky said she changed her vote in exchange for Clinton’s promise to hold a conference in Montgomery County on cutting spending on Medicare and other entitlements.”
She dropped the Mezvinsky when she dropped the last husband after his fraud conviction.
Interesting bit in Ed Mezvinsky's Wikipedia entry:
Mezvinsky was involved in a series of business transactions that ultimately led to his downfall.
Beginning in the early 1990s Mezvinsky fell prey to a wide variety of 419 scams. According to a federal prosecutor, Mezvinsky was conned by "just about every different kind of African-based scam weve ever seen." In order to raise the funds needed to front the money for the fraudulent investment schemes he was being offered, Mezvinsky became, himself, a conman, tapping his network of contacts and dropping the name of the Clinton family to convince unwitting marks to give him money.
Bubba’s TAX HIKE got her FIRED after the Dems DRAGGED HER....LITERALLY.. TO VOTE “YES” on the bill!!!<Marjorie Margolis Mezvinsky.....why isn’t she using her MARRIED name??? Because her husband is a CROOK????
“My God!!! these people spread out like the Bubonic Plague.”
