Echoes of Edward R. Murrow in Sharyl Attkisson's departure from CBS News

CBS News has lost its strongest claim to be a fair and non-partisan news source with the departure of Sharyl Attkisson from the network. The award-winning reporter has been squeezed-out because of her reporting on investigative themes inconvenient to the Obama administration, including Fast and Furious and the Benghazi Scandal – two incidents in which United States government officials lost their lives. In 2013, her total air time on the CBS Evening News was a mere 53 minutes, a third of her air time prior to the Obama administration, when she reported on scandals involving Republicans. In the words of network news analyst Andrew Tyndall, “She was obviously being sidelined.”

What makes Attkisson’s departure a scandal, however, is an obvious conflict of interest at CBS News that directly impacted Attkisson’s access to air time. John Nolte of Breitbart News reported yesterday:

Back in May, Breitbart News reported that the President of CBS News, David Rhodes, is the brother of President Obama's National Security advisor, Ben Rhodes. According to ABC News, Brother Ben was very much involved in the Benghazi scandal, specifically the infamous talking points that -- with the help of the mainstream media -- misled the nation for weeks in the heat of Obama's 2012 re-election campaign.

Attkisson distinguished herself during the Obama Administration as one of a few mainstream media reporters interested in getting to the truth of Benghazi and Fast and Furious. The rest of the media spent all of its energy attempting to protect Obama from these scandals – pushing back against critical Republicans and alternative media...

Sad. But not surprising. Hopefully there’ll be another media outlet that will hire her and encourage her investigative projects.

Edward R. Murrow: This is London.

Sharyl Attkisson: This is Benghazi.

Obama is being schooled by Putin lately, maybe bothersome reporters like Sharyl Attkisson will be having accidents such as falling out of windows to the ground 5 stories down.

Before we start cheering Edward R. Murrow, it’s good to remember that the Democratic Party of New York state invited Murrow to be their U.S. Senate candidate in 1958.

Murrow turned them down after having a long chat with...Harry Truman.

Murrow was also a central figure in the political destruction of Joe McCarthy.

History has shown that much of what McCarthy said about Communist infiltration of our government was completely true.

I got a conservative girl mad at me last year because she was complaining that there were no more Cronkites in the media, and I asked why that would ever be a bad thing. I guess time has a way of making people forget why leftist icons were leftist icons.

Just so. At the time, I thought Edward R. Murrow was great. Then I began to see through him. It became more and more obvious that he was just another leftist liar—all the worse because he did it so very smoothly and convincingly.

NEVER FORGET

.

..November 22, 1963 was also the Day that Walter Cronkite became ‘The Most
Trusted Man in America’ when his tears came while taking his large
black Glasses off to tell us on TV that “President Kennedy died at 1:00
pm Central Standard Time.” He was expressing on TV how he, and thus all
the rest of us watching him on TV at home, felt at that horrible moment.
His reporting the business at hand thus continued ..and he had us in
his grip..

Just a little over 4 years later, ‘The Most Trusted
Man in America’ Walter Cronkite went on to incorrectly tell us on TV
from Hue, South Vietnam that the Communist TET Offensive in a then Free
South Vietnam had been a success .. when it was actually a big defeat
for our Communist Enemies. Upon his return home Cronkite then told the
American People on TV that it was time for us to leave South Vietnam
..and he had us in his grip.

This put into motion the demise of
an American Presidency, doubt into our Freedom Mission for South
Vietnam and eventually a most horrid Fall of Freedom there for millions
of poor S.E. Asian Souls, and the deaths of many. Showing us that ..Free
TV isn’t Free..

Yeah...and don’t forget that Dan Rather was among the coterie of red diaper baby CBS ‘reporters’ over in VN telling the network lies also.
