Frozen lambasted as pro-gay propaganda by Christian pastor
The Guardian ^ | Wednesday 12 March 2014 17.17 GMT | Andrew Pulver

Frozen, the Oscar-winning Disney cartoon adapted from Hans Christian Andersen, is a vehicle for pro-gay propaganda as well a promoting bestiality, according to a Christian radio show in Colorado.

Pastor Kevin Swanson of the Reformation Church, who hosts Generations Radio, denounced the film as "very evil", and that Disney was "one of the most pro-homosexual organisations in the country".

Swanson said: "You wonder sometimes if maybe there's something very evil happening here ... I wonder if people are thinking: 'You know I think this cute little movie is going to indoctrinate my 5-year-old to be a lesbian or treat homosexuality or bestiality in a light sort of way.'"

He also characterised Disney as a satanic company, saying: "If I was the Devil, what would I do to really foul up an entire social system and do something really, really, really evil to 5- and 6- and 7-year-olds in Christian families around America?... If I was the Devil, I would buy Disney in 1984."

Or alternatively: Disney's Frozen might be the most Christian movie lately

A Southern Baptist university professor in Texas is suggesting that Disney's animated feature Frozen, now doing well at the box office and just nominated for two Academy Awards, "might be the most Christian movie that I have seen this year". In fact, he says, it may be "a better allegory for the Christian gospel than CS Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" – borderline blasphemy for many believers. - snip -

Thoughts?

Personally I loved it and reccomend it heartily.

That said, it *could* provide helpful insights into the emotions of those who experience same-sex attraction.

I thought it was great. Took the 4 kids with my wife and myself and thought it was great. There was zero homosexuality in the movie. This doosh makes conservative Christians look bad.

This gay thing is just bizarre. I saw it with my kids (one liked it, one didn’t; I loved it) and saw no gay overtones. The only thing I can think of is that the love between the sisters is an important part of the plot. If they’re thinking that’s sexual, all I can say is, “Ew!” (I saw absolutely no sign of that sort of thing in that movie. Some people’s imaginations work overtime! LOL!)

Mark Henn, a 30 year Disney veteran who worked on this movie had this to say:

“Christian families can use [Frozen] to talk to their kids ultimately [about] honest, sacrificial love. We all understand that. The love of Christ is sacrificing His life because He loved us so much. God so loved the world through Christ. That’s sacrificial love. Those are elements that, while not so blatantly, “here’s a Christian message”, but they’re there. For Christian families in particular, they can just peel back the layers a little bit and then be willing to, as parents, talk to their kids and just have conversations about that.”

I’d tend to think most normal people would completely miss them — and even most “fairies” would need to have them pointed out.

A picture in a voluntarily viewed movie can’t make a normal person “gay.”

Wonder what "Pastor" Kevin Swanson thought of Jesus and his apostles .

A group of single men traveling together, enjoying the sites, eating together, sleeping together, all the while professing the love of thy fellow man....... all without the company of women..

I think so. The movie is *not* about anything even remotely related to glbtq stuff. But I think it can help us gain a heart for those who do struggle with SSA. I strongly oppose gay activism, FWIW, but do feel for those who experience same-sex attraction.

I can’t belive that you just got me to google, “little mermaid and pe...” lol.

“According to snopes this is a false rumour. It was not even drawn by a Disney employee, but by a Christian artist.

The artist himself didn’t notice the resemblance until a member of his youth church group heard about the controversy on talk radio and called him at his studio with the news.

I think often with these sort of things, people see what they want to see.

Never saw it. It has queers in it? Well, that tells you all you need know about what happened to Walt’s company.

Nope, it doesn't. From the looks of it this "pastor" simply spews out allegations without providing any sort of substantive reference to back his claims up.

The focus of the story is on the relationship between two sisters. One is involved in a quasi-love triangle with a Prince and a commoner. The commoner does have a pretty close relationship with his pet ... caribou? So maybe that's where the "bestiality" claim comes from? Since the commoner and the caribou (or is it a reindeer?) are both male ... well, heck, who knows?

And then there's this living snowman ... not sure where that fits in to the whole queer/bestiality thing.

Otherwise about the only thing overtly sexual in the movie is the transformation scene of the other sister. Basically a decent (if somewhat prim and severe) looking blonde in traditional Scandinavian winter attire who metamorphizes (sp?) over the course of a musical number into a smoking hot (off Laz's hit-worthy scale) vixen with flowing hair, a form-fitting dress with a very nice slit up the side of one leg and ... cleavage (oh WHY did there have to be cleavage?).

But that's pretty much Disney's specialty, right? At least she didn't end up twerking, sticking her tongue out in unnatural ways, stripping nekkid and riding a wrecking ball like it was a mechanical bull, right?

I'm guessing if I were in early elementary school I'd have had pretty much the same reaction to that as I did whenever seeing Linda Carter twirl herself from Diana Prince into Wonder Woman. But I digress.

I guess as Tolkien used to say, good art about the human condition will have applicability to many situations.

If a story about love, can give people comfort and solace it seems like a good thing to me.

Libs spend their time looking for “offenses” in daily life. Similarly, some conservatives spend their time looking for “code.” Both are a waste of time and deserve to be ridiculed.

Yeah, I did not want to go “there”, but it does sometimes seem to be the case.

Afterall, it seems pretty clear that in the little mermaid case, there simply isn’t anything there. And, the cover art was not even made by Disney, but by a Christian artist working late at night. Did he have some subconscious thing come out in that drawing.

God knows.
