Bill O'Reilly---Jesus Scholar
FNC-O-Reilly Factor | Mar. 12, 2014 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 03/12/2014 6:25:03 PM PDT by far sider

Did anyone else hear the Jesus scholar tonight? O'Reilly said that when Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights, he "ate nothing but bugs and honey." So that's why Christians give up something for Lent. (He said it during the final segment: The Factor Tip of the Day.)

One would think the author Killing Jesus would know the difference between John the Baptist and Jesus.

Coming soon: “Killing John the Baptist”

Why doesn’t he just write a tome called “Killing Truth” and be done with it. Everything about him is a lie.

John the Baptist ate one specific kind of “bug”, that being the locust.

He also tonight espoused the incongruous position (in the same sentence!) that he’s in favor of raising the minimum wage “to help the folks” but disagrees with increasing paid overtime eligibility saying it will necessarily result in the loss of jobs in a “capitalist system.” Huh?

The folks at Harvard must clinch their teeth and sphincter muscles every time BOR mentions that he attended Harvard.

What a lunatic. Obama might be patriotic, but certainly not to the United States.

O'Reilly said that when Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights, he "ate nothing but bugs and honey." So that's why Christians give up something for Lent.

BOR is a slow child and is easily confused.

Yah'shua spent 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness.
there is no reference to bugs, honey or carob.

OBTW Lent has been created out of whole cloth by the Roman "church".
Yah'shua and all of His disciples were Torah-observant messianic Jews.

It appears that BOR's "ghost writer" is ignorant as well.

Matthew 4:2: After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

In other words, He ate nothing.

He claims “authorship” but dollars to donuts, it’s the other guy who is writing these books - Bor is just the mouthpiece.

My impression of O'R and Hannity has always been that neither is terribly sharpt. I have long believed that O'R is a liberal who determined to make a lot of money in talk tv and radio. He is bright enough to know that you can't do that as a leftist so he adopted a conservative persona. It slips occasionally when he remarks about something for which he has not previously determined the conservative position. He has no philosofical basis for his conservatism so never knows which side of an issue he should take without researching it first. Sometimes he fails to do the research.
Hannity's heart is in the right place but he is just dumb. He insists on debating with lefty callers but he almost always misses the caller's point and comes off looking second best. He is definitely not a Constitutional scholar.

His books are pretty lame no matter who wrote them. All of them are really just a rehashing of the same story heard many times before. There is no new material or even a new insight into any of the books.

B.O. is just putting a new cover on old work. Name and city if you wish to opine, name and city if you wish to opine.

Are you sure? I took a look at one of his books one time and came away with the impression that this was written by a person almost totally lacking in insight, intellectual gravitas, and ability to write beyond the 10th grade level.

To be fair, I’ve heard Bill give his writing partner lots of acclaim and credit for most of the work, especially the research stuff. And more than once. Also he claims that most if not all the money from his books go to charity. Now that may or may not be true but I suspect it is true.

Agreed. Both BOR and Hannity are entertainers who found a formula for remunerative success. I believe, though, that Hannity would be a conservative even if he were a blue collar guy. Bill O’Reilly would be an annoying, hard to pin down RINO type.

Yes. Hannity is conservative. Ramifications seem to be too complicated for him, though.
