China warns of dangerous Russia sanctions 'spiral'

China's top envoy to Germany has warned the West against punishing Russia with sanctions for its intervention in Ukraine, saying such measures could lead to a dangerous chain reaction that would be difficult to control.

In an interview with Reuters days before the European Union is threatening to impose its first sanctions on Russia since the Cold War, ambassador Shi Mingde issued the strongest warning against such measures by any top Chinese official to date.

"We don't see any point in sanctions," Shi said. "Sanctions could lead to retaliatory action, and that would trigger a spiral with unforeseeable consequences. We don't want this."

German Chancellor Angela Merkel...Using her toughest rhetoric since the crisis began, she warned in a speech in parliament on Thursday that Russia risked "massive" political and economic damage if it did not change course in the coming days.

Russia's Deputy Economy Minister Alexei Likhachev responded by promising "symmetrical" sanctions by Moscow.

Still, Ukraine presents Beijing with a dilemma. On the one hand it is a traditional ally of Moscow and has routinely sided with its northern neighbor in major international conflicts. On the other hand, the question of territorial integrity is a tricky issue for the Chinese because of Tibet and Taiwan.

China and Russia are serious. Obama and the Euros are not serious. That is all that needs to be understood about this posturing by the west.

Well one way to rearrange the global financial problem is to have a war. Tried and true method. I sorta doubt that once you get to the core of all this, that that is far from the motivating factor. gets rid of the ‘overpopulation problem too. See Agenda 21 for details.

Not as crazy as it sounds considering who we have in charge.

“I take China’s intervention also to be an indication of which side China would take.”

China wants oil, raw materials and dominance in Asia.

If you were China, which side would you take ?

With Obama on one side and Putin on the other, I’d be sinking money into South America

There is no dilemma. China fully supports the right of the larger country to deal with smaller neighbors as it sees fit. They *are* the larger country in their region. Tibet is an internal affair of China, but Taiwan is a very good analogy to Ukraine. In essence, Taiwan is allowed to exist unmolested only because Taiwan is not doing any wrong moves. Ukraine did make such moves. It was their right... but the only rights between countries are those that a country is able to defend. Everything else is hot air. Ukraine over the last 15 years drove its industry, economy and yes, military into the ground. Now they are observing the results of that policy.

It’s a shame that I despise our president so much that I feel good when China or Russia tells us to go to hell.

I agree. Obama is so incompetent, though, that he could get us into a world war.

Tell China to pound sand.

IE.. tell China to back sanctions or we will no longer recognize any claim the Chinese have to Taiwan.

Do we really want to fight a war with Russia/China/Iran/Cuba/ and others a;; over the Ukraine? Who would on our side? England? (Nope) France? (Non) Germany—maybe? Canada? Is it worth it? We need to buy time to re-build our nation and military if WW III is in the making.

A lot of people don’t understand that Russia has deliberately structured it’s economy to resist attempts at coercion by the NATO countries.

They are largely self sufficient. They have little trade with the US. They have strong trade ties with countries that are on bad terms with or wary of the US. They have little debt and big currency reserves.

We have seen how successful sanction have been on Cuba, Iraq, Iran and Syria.

Now China is weighing in. China has a vast and growing thirst for energy, food, raw materials and military equipment. They also have a lot of money to invest and goods to sell at low prices.

I wouldn’t put any money on big sanctions happening and I wouldn’t put any money that they will damage Russia very badly if they do happen. The US and EU are a smaller slice of the pie than they used to be. They don’t have as much weight to throw around in the developing world as they used to and more developing countries have truly independent governments.

If anything painful happens to Russia, one party that has billions to lose is Exxon. I understand they have some pull with the Fed Gov. Folks are talking about flooding the energy market to hurt Russia’s ability to find new markets if Europe shuts them out. What would that do to the folks at the big oil companies’ bottom lines?

Keep your eye on the ball, folks.

It’s about time for China to start some trouble over Taiwan or the South China Sea again to show just how thin our shrinking military has become. The Russians could turn up in the Caribbean or a couple of their long range bombers could probe Alaska like they have done in the past, too. This whole mess is going to get out of hand if cool heads don’t prevail.

If someone is robbing my neighbor at gunpoint I'm not interested in waiting for 'cool heads' to negotiate a plan to let the robber keep my neighbor's house. Oh, and I might be just a teensy bit rude to the robber and not really give a hoot about it.

Popular American opinion was anti-defense for some time before WWI and also before WWII. America also suffered terrible economic depressions immediately before each of those wars. Then there was Cold War I.

I wore this country’s uniform. I earned a right to criticize who’s running it. And if this country keeps going the way it’s going, you can have it. It’s not the country I served.

“I think all of you are forgetting one thing.

Take the politics away and our military can kick both their a$$e$ across the continents.”

Let’s not forget the most “important” thing....

The appointed time has come for this world. God is about to pass down judgement on America, and it’s inhabitants. And He is calling upon all who are HIS to stand up, to ready our soul and spirit for the fast-approaching final battle. Man has devised in his wicked heart to throw us to the wolves.

Jesus warns us of this in “this generation” (meaning ALL who are alive right now). Who can contest this battle that is brewing, yet has already begun?

NOW is the time to REPENT, for those not saved. We must get our hearts right with God “today”. We are to put our full faith and trust in JESUS, for EVERYTHING. Now, and always.

Matt 24:36
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father.

“John 8:31
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Trust God faithfully. Believe the word of God. If you obey Jesus, you will become a child of God and he will give his grace and power to you. He will make it a glorious beginning and will take care of you until the end. “Beware of false workers”.

Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Matt 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

We are instructed by the Lord to seek shelter in HIM. Under the shadow of His wings will we be protected from the enemy who actively is seeking those he can, and will destroy.

Depend on THIS world for NOTHING. ONLY JESUS. Punishments so destructive shall come, AND so deserved are they that every nation’s armies will be as useless empty vessels.

Pray this sinner’s prayer to become saved from God’s Wrath to come, and so that we may BE with Him when He returns for His Bride(meaning those who are His). All you have to do is “BELIEVE”. God will do the rest.

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

If you decided to repent of your sins and receive Christ today, welcome to God’s family. Now, as a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.

*Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
*Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
*Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word.
*Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
*Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus. Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
*Find a local church where you can worship God.

MAY GOD BLESS, AND KEEP YOU.
