Skip to comments.Democrats in Disarray: Party Frightened, Fractured Over Obamacare

The magnitude of Obamacare's failure is becoming increasingly clear every day. Enrollment rates and demographics are weak. Central promises have been shattered. Affordability remains elusive for millions. Costs for families, small businesses and the federal government are going up. And the uninsured aren't participating. In spite of a parade of delays and "fixes," Reeling from a bellwether special election loss, Democrats find themselves right back where they were in late 2013: Panicked over their poisonous signature law. Back then, they tried to blame "glitches" in the rollout. The problems that persist today cut to the heart of the law itself. How will Democrats spin Obamacare heading into November? They've devolved from vowing to proudly run on Obamacare, to focusing on making needed changes to the law, to...chaotic disagreement. Politico reports:
Democrats cant even agree whether Obamacare was the reason for their crushing loss in a Florida special election Tuesday. Now picture how their messaging plan for the health care law is shaping up for 2014. Republican lobbyist David Jollys victory over Democrat Alex Sink has many Democrats privately worried and publicly split about how to talk about Obamacare. A few Democrats are advocating a drastic rhetorical shift to the left, by criticizing their own party for not going far enough when it passed the law in 2010. Other Democrats plan to sharply criticize the Affordable Care Act when running for re-election. Many plan to stick to the simple message that Obamacare is flawed and needs to be fixed a tactic that plainly didnt work for Sink. Taken together, the Democratic Party is heading into an already tough election year divided instead of united on the very issue Republicans plan to make central to their campaigns.
Pro tip: Messaging isn't the problem. Among the Democrats with the most to lose in November is a trio of vulnerable southern Senators: Kay Hagan, Mary Landrieu and Mark Pryor. Hagan has literally fled Obamacare questions, Landrieu is on record saying that she is "100 percent" responsible for the law, which Mark Pryor called an "amazing success story." Rattled by how badly his "success story" is proceeding, Pryor is running an erratic campaign. He accidentally touted his opponent's website at a press conference on Medicare (which he repeatedly voted to cut in order to pay for Obamacare), and bizarrely accused his Republican foe of feeling "entitled" to his seat due to his military service, or something. That, coming from a career politician who used his family's prominent political name to get elected. Americans for Prosperity has launched a $700,000 television ad buy in Arkansas targeting Pryor for misleading his constituents about keeping their existing health coverage: Wanda: The moment my insurance was cancelled
And they’ll probably still win leaving the gop’rs to wonder what happened. Way to divide the conservatives asshats. Crush the tea party they said. Don’t associate with the tea party they said. Smooth move there exlax.
WTH is it going to take to impeach the Muslim Manchurian Candidate?
The purpose of the Democrat party is to elect thieves to office so that they have access to public treasuries in order to loot them.
But Carville, on BOR tonight, predicted that Ovomitcare would become a raging success.
Who you going to believe. James Carville...or your own lying eyes?
we got nuthin’
Oh, yes, please do. You can sell a feller a dog turd in a bag by telling him it's an ice cream sandwich, but once he's opened the bag it's not exactly a winning ploy to shout "I should have sold you two!"
You would love it, wouldn’t you? And are making sure it’s going to happen by staying home or voting for some Third Party candidate who won’t have any chance to get elected?
Thanks alot /s>
I just participated in a poll sponsored by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. They asked me if I voted in the House District 13 special election and if I voted for Jolly or Sink. Then they wanted to know how much my opinion of Obamacare influenced my vote and if I would like to see it repealed or have changes made to it.
Just because they are in disarray doesn’t mean they aren’t going to troll the internet trying to sow confusion on the right.
LOL! Not a chance I’ll stay home or pick a rue paul type cant-idate and ensure the dems get back in. I’ll be doin’ as much as I can. Sadly, conservatives don’t have the advantage of voting as often as the lib/socialist/progressive/commies do.
Big republican majorities in both houses, for openers.
May the rivers of this great land run red with their blood, and may coyotes feast on their entrails.
Open the gulag and lock them up.
We need to open the chain gang farms to lock up the crooks in the democRAT party!
Better still - we need lots of trials and convictions of Demonrats for treason, and some good sturdy, reusable rope to carry out the sentences.
Boehner, McCain, Romney, et al., not just the democrats. This country is toast.
Good thing the dems have voter fraud perfected; they’ll still “win”.
- twelve (12) percent of your gross income - for Obamacare tax
- add that to your federal income tax
- to your state income tax
- to your NYC income tax
- to your SS
- to your useless Medicare tax since LBJ
- etc. etc. etc.
Thought that needed some inspiration.
