KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- A Malaysia Airlines plane sent signals to a satellite for four hours after the aircraft went missing, an indication that it was still flying for hundreds of miles or more, a U.S. official briefed on the search said Thursday.

Six days after the plane with 239 people aboard disappeared, Malaysian authorities expanded their search westward toward India, saying the aircraft may have flown for several hours after its last contact with the ground shortly after takeoff from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing.

Actually, you’re right. And thats my theory. That the co-pilot (or pilot) took over the plane. But I think it was a suicide mission and got ditched somewhere in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Probably over a woman. Its always a woman.

Maybe they want a real big one that carries a lot of fuel so they can slam it into another tall building, nuke plant, or a big event like the super bowl etc.

If said entity wants a “delivery system” they have to have something to deliver. I’m assuming you mean a nuke. I would think any organization that had the resources to get a nuke could get a plane way easier than going through all this trouble.

The turn around would have been unmistakable. It happened an hour or so into the flight.

One or both of the pilots would have been involved in this.

If a hijacking, these guys were good. They made a 777 disappear.

Hope I am wrong.

There is also the little problem of opening a door in flight. Modern airliners are not designed for dropping paratroopers or passengers.

You make great points.

Lessay it’s suicide by pilot or co-pilot over a woman or something:

If he’s sad/angry enough to kill 240 people, wouldn’t he be mad enough to fly the airplane into KL’s muzzie twin towers..?

In that state of mind why simply settle for smacking into plain ole’ water?

I have to allow that the, “de-pressurize cabin, then suicide by pilot or co-pilot” does seem simple and convincing.

Well maybe she wronged him bad enough to wipe out a plane, but not quite bad enough to take out the muzzie twin towers. When it comes to “what women do to men”, you really never do know.....

EMP attack.

Detonate it in the sky and immediately blow us technologically back into the middle ages.

That seems a little cost prohibitive for most people, even terrorists.

So it sorta seems like they viewed the a/c as valuable

...or the contents, for whatever reason.

Emp attack?!?!. Har!

777 can’t fly in outer space......emp effectiveness drops rapidly in the atmosphere. Nice try though.

“So then whats the point of hijacking it? Its WAY easier to purchase a plane than to pull something like this off.”

Um, a 777 costs $300M

If you're using it for something illegal, it's far cheaper to hijack or bribe a 3rd world pilot

You gradually decrease cabin pressure until they’re all asleep, then dead. Easily done in an hour.

...except the passenger's emergency O2 masks deploy.

Yes - very good points - it sounds like something planned rather than an accident. It's difficult to come up with a simple explanation that involves an accident.
