You don’t need a 777 to deliver a nuke, and it would be far easier and much less noticeable to just steal a private jet.
Only the Russians have the balls to do that.
Part of the Earhart investigation focused on how she was to switch between radio beacon and a some other signal (like morse-code??) on the half-hour as a navigation aid. But at that time, everyone used a different time zone. A ship from Hawaii was anchored off the island (Howland?), and was 2.5 hours off from the island! (The ship was still on Hawaii time.)
Anyway - the result was using Mean Greenwich Time for all travel after that.
I imagine some changes will be coming as a result of this flight getting lost.
I think there is just enough fuel to make it to Pakistan.. Flying conservatively not in the political sense.
Doubtful. To get to Pakistan on the fuel load you’d have to fly over India and the Indians would see you. Not enough fuel to go around. For the same reason, the plane didn’t fly four hours north. While the Vietnamese might not have very good radar coverage, China certainly does and would have seen the plane. Same for Taiwan and Japan on the original heading.
If the cell phones were actually ringing, that would mean they were near a cell tower.
How does the cell phone system know how to route the call to the correct tower and then to the cell phone?
It's because the cell phone sends signals to the tower to announce its presence and connect with the tower.
There are easily searchable logs of these announcement signals.
If any of these cell phones were working and were near a cell tower, we would know where they were.
I thought of North Korea as a possibility but discarded that for the same reasons you mentioned plus warships of multiple nations and we damn well know for certain that country is under continous satellite observation.
Plus the Chinese would be really pissed at fat Kim :)
Were you watching the meter?
Fully fueled, this airplane has a range of 8892 miles. They had enough to reach Beijing with the customary reserve. But who's to say somebody didn't arrange to have some extra pumped aboard at KUL?
Or start WWIII
8892 miles is about 17 hours worth of flying.
Malaysia Airlines has said the plane was fueled for at least eight hours of flight. The Kuala Lumpur-Beijing route lasts six hours. Aircraft typically carry two hours’ worth of fuel on top of what is needed.
see post 124. Only had enough fuel left for 2200 nautical miles of flight when the transponders were turned off.
11000 ft. at maximum takeoff weight for the 777-200ER.
I would think the takeoff distance for the lighter 777-200 model at MTOW would be close, if the aircraft was relatively empty (say, just a nuke and aircrew) at approximately 8,000 ft. of runway.
Just a guess, mind you, but that is likely the minimum for in/out flying--although there are others far more expert in this field than I whom I would welcome corrections from.
I haven’t seen anyone mention Yemen. Lots of bad folks there with bad intentions towards infidels. Some of the maps I’ve seen show Yemen as being in the range for landing this jet.
That's based on the assumption they were only fueled for the scheduled Beijing flight.
What if that assumption is wrong? Then that 2200 nautical mile circle (2532 of 8892 maximum statute miles) would need to be expanded to the point of irrelevance. They could pretty much be anywhere.
That’s a nice, neat circle. Isn’t the westbound distance stretched by the rotation of the earth?
You don’t have to wipe out the whole country. Just take down the eastern grid in late summer and let the riots do the rest...
Yemen would have been a 3800-mile flight from their last known position. A little closer than Mogadishu.
Of course, the Great Satan has relatively good coverage of Yemen as well as Somalia. Yemen was home to Mooselimb cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki, author of the instruction manual for the Boston Marathon bombings. He was killed by a Hellfire missile launched by a guy sitting in an office chair.
Somewhere in Bangladesh or Pakistan would seem to be a more discrete destination.
Is that a photo of Amelia? She looks gay to me, never saw a pic before.
That’s probably been checked several times. If that had happened it would of been leaked by now like everything else and then originally denied by the Malaysian government then confirmed later like several things in this investigation.
I would say the Americans that are there have checked that. If it had enough fuel to make it to say Iran or Pakistan then the USS KIDD wouldn’t be going to a specific area in the Indian Ocean. I think they now something.
I can only come to one fact and that is the plane was hijacked. If it was hijacked by the pilots then this plane has landed somewhere and is now in not to friendly hands. If it were someone else on the plane doing the hijacking they might assumed the plane had enough fuel to fly 8800 miles and may have run out over the Indian Ocean.
I think we will all know today or tomorrow.
From point they lost contact you can calculate where they are better by seeing what is in a circle of about 2400 square miles.
That’s 4 hours x 600 MPH.
Look for all landing strips in that circle and you probably will find that plane.
Correction on earlier post. It takes a 777-200 ER 14 hours and 25 minutes to fly 7598 miles. That’s ATL to DXB.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame, but I know ... it's my own damn fault.
Maybe the plane's in Margaritaville.
ATL to DXB is only 13h50m, according to Wolfram-Alpha. 7600 miles, or 57 fiber milliseconds.
But I'll sit and watch on the internet, thank you very much.
Maybe, maybe not.
DXB to ATL. I just flew it a couple weeks ago.
How many times did you visit the on-board facility?
I'm doing well if I can last from BOS to DFW.
They’d need a lot more material.
On that one I take Tylenol pm when boarding and then 2 rum and cokes later I’m out for about 8 hours. I wake up and hit the facilities to freshen up and watch movies the rest off the way. I hate that flight.
If they have the means to steal a 777, I’m guessing they could come up with enough camouflage netting to cover it.
This would require a State to coordinate the landing and refueling. Plus they then can claim we didn’t do it when the bomb goes off. No one will want the retaliatory strike to hit them.
A state, or rogue authorities within that state or its Military...someone would likely have to be looking the other way...
And then there are many islands to Indonesia, which is right next door. Easily done, maybe a few WW2 air srips out there?
Krakatoa, East of Java
Retaliatory Strike from the POS? LOL.
My guess it was hijacked by either the pilots, actually diverted, or by some rag head bunch, and is lost at sea due to a fuel shortage. Without knowing the destination, it will be difficult to surmise where it is albeit they should know how much fuel was supposed to be on board. I hope someone checked the fuel supply for where they departed to ensure it was not refueled.
Ditto. Got the feeling this plane is sitting somewhere, fully loaded with some really bad stuff, and waiting for the green light.
And whose “facts” will you believe? Every hour there are different facts out there. The oil rig worker saw the plane go down in flames. The plane flew on for hours after losing signal. The plane turned back. They found debris. Wrong debris. They found an oil slick. Oil slick not from plane.
Until they actually find the plane, there are no “facts”.
“This is some entity that wants a delivery system but cannot pay for it.”
Considering our credit is in the toilet..........So which one would we want to nuke first?
Ok - that made me laugh.
Adnan El Shukrijumah, also known as Jafar fhe Pilot, is still on the loose.
“... commissioned by Bin Laden to carry out a nuclear 9-11. hes been working on that for over a decade. if it turns out that this plane was hijacked and landed somewhere, i would not be surprised if he is involved. he last made some noise in 2009 with the thwarted nyc subway bombing. so 5 years later....hes due.’
Perhaps why we are hearing sooooo much from odumbo about the incident. “No news is good news” as he hides under the bed.
I went on Google maps and checked it out. The travel time to Iran was shown as twice that to bejing...... 13 hours vs 6.8.
A rough cut eyeball guess for the same distance to Bejing was around the Paki/India border. India is the most likely land mass just because it is so big. But India does not really make sense.
There's another story out there that says a number of family members of passengers had tried calling their cell phones. The phones rang then abruptly hung up....
This whole thing is un-friggin’ believable!
What’s worse, this may be a “dry-run” for something VERY SINISTER......
This reminds me of the story of the pro golfer and wife. They were on a Lear jet and all aboard passed out and the plane flew into Canada until it ran out of fuel and crashed. This happened about 15-20 years ago I beleive.
Okay that was pro golfer Payne Stewart who died in 1999.
Iran says we kidnapped it. Interesting that they felt the need to comment at all. Perhaps telling.
Morning MarMema. I have not checked for links this a.m. Are there any links out there or would I be wasting my time looking for links?
