AMMAN, Jordan — In offices above busy commercial streets here in the Jordanian capital, Iraqi tribal and religious leaders are plotting a revolution in their own country.

“It is a war,” said Muthana al-Dari, surrounded by satellite maps of flash points in western Iraq, where government security forces, tribes and al-Qaeda-inspired insurgents are engulfed in a complicated clash.

Ah me, the same ole Sunni-Shiite problem.
There WERE many Shiite Muslims in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and their young men ALWAYS made trouble for the 99% Sunni Muslims.

NOTHING changes.

The King will send in the Saudi military and crush them relentlessly. That will shut them up for a nanosecond.

We had it in Europe during the Catholic/Protestant wars.

When a ruler's legitimacy is dependent upon religion, then there will be war against those whose religious beliefs deny his legitimacy.

You forgot "rape, pillage and burn."

They DO stop and pray (at least in Saudi Arabia) FIVE times a day. The entire prayer time is ABOUT half an hour.
The MEN pray in public in their mosques; the women NEVER pray in public. They say their prayers in homes, always in private.
At parties the men and women socialize separately. If there is dancing and singing, which is always, also separated. The entire family lives in a high-walled compound. Separation of genders there too.

Boys stay with mommy until they are nine years old. Then they go to the men's side.

If these women happen to be out and about at prayer time, then they do go to the mosques but pray up in the "balcony" with the other women. There IS strict segregation of the genders.

TRUE STORY.
While we were in Saudi Arabia I had to go to their clinic and get some medication.
The "women's line" was no line. It was a cluster of some 20 women all clamoring for their medication AT ONCE. It was CHAOS.
The men's line was straight and quiet, orderly...like lines should be.

I looked at the men's line, then at the women's line and STOOD IN THE MEN'S LINE, glaring at the women's line. It was PATENTLY obvious what I was doing. NO ONE said a word or made me change back to the women's line.
From that time onwards I stood in the men's lines.

We Western women were ALMOST a third gender. We could do ANYTHING we wanted. If we were "bad girls," they sent our HUSBANDS to jail and sent us home. Husbands were responsible for wives' behavior.
