Israel is the best country in the Middle East for womens rights and freedoms, the World Economic Forums Global Gender Gap survey concluded this week.
The survey, which has been conducted since 2006, ranks 110 countries in terms of gender equality and inequality, using a variety of factors including demographic data, socioeconomic figures, and a close look at women in the legal system. [ ]
Thomson-Reuters noted recently that several Middle Eastern countriesEgypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and others have a poor track record for violence against women, reproductive rights, as well as the treatment and role of women. Egypt bottomed out the list.

Google “Women of the IDF” and prepare to have you breath taken away! JUST WOW!
It isn’t hard to do.
In other words:
Rain is wet
The Sun is hot
Liberals are demented
Wolves eat sheep
Bears poop in the woods
A no-brainer when you are surrounded by Muslims!
I hope this is not considered breaking news. We have Israel, which is full of beautiful, strong women, many with military experience, and it is surrounded by countries in which women have a significantly lower status than the men who own them.
European libs, Femnazis, Muslims in general...heads explode...
The Israeli women get to keep all their ladies parts.
A contributing factor is that many Israeli women have firearms slung over their shoulders.
What a captain obvious moment.
How do you say “duh” in Hebrew?
I always enjoyed going to the beach outside of Haifa after Shabbat and watching the young people dance.
Looked just like a scene from Exodus.
Which is exactly why they are in such dire peril.
A list of societies that were "best for women" is the list, 50 years later, of societies conquered, with the men slaughtered, the women raped or willingly submitting, and the children enslaved.
A society filled with manly men skilled in the arts of war will never make the "best for women" list - although it should.
But, but, Islam is the religion of female pieces....
Islam, for when the past 1200 years or so of progress is just too much.
And you want to just let your hate flow out!
Israel is a very good country for women, yes, but saying its the best place in the middle east for females sure ain’t saying much (considering how women are treated in most of the Islamic nations!).
Isn’t it amazing how the American left is so in love with the IslamoNazi enemies of USA ... EVEN THOUGH the Muslims will subjugate and/or outright kill many of the American leftists the very moment they take full control of USA?
subjugating the women severely, killing the homosexuals and transsexuals and bisexuals and multi-sexuals and all the other 57 perverse variations of “sexuality” so popular within the American left
Are you counting the women not even allowed to ride the same buses as some ultra-orthodox men?
Not to get negative but Israel has the largest population of prostitutes in the middle east as well.
Unlike the men...
But they’re imports, so no one cares...
Israel has some stupidity (personally, I think men who don't want to ride the same bus as a woman should learn to walk), but it's not anywhere close to the same league as their neighbors.
I just hate seeing people break their arms when patting themselves on the back.
After spending 3 months in Israel in ‘97, the only time I saw anything like this was at the Western Wall.
Men and Women were told to pray in different locations.
Yea it sounded stupid but not anymore than some of the rules in Christian religions.
I would theorize its the only good place in the Mideast for women.
I’m neither Jewish nor Israeli, but I am happy to pat them on the back. They have created a fine society!
I will, however, continue praying for God to preserve and protect their country, just as I will pray for Him to protect the United States (in our case against all enemies, foreign and domestic).
In light of the surrounding countries’ view of women, this would be like winning a race against a field of paralytics.
Another “well, duh” announcement from our friends at the World Economic Forum...
...and the donkeys the men who own them own.
Well, Israel is certainly the best country in the middle east for a woman if she’s looking to kill her unborn child. Maybe some of the folks yelping their approval on this thread should look into how the “World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Survey” defines “women’s rights”.
I have to laugh at the title because my first thought was, "DUH!" I suppose the same sentiment could be expressed with mice. "The enclosed live mouse trap is the safest place for a mouse in a room full of cats."
For simpletons trying to understand the comparison, in predominantly Muslim countries, women = mice.
Given its competition, it’s hardly a surprise to me.
I don’t need to do that. I saw them in person when I was in Israel three years ago. They all looked so young, at first in my jet-lagged state, I thought they were girl scouts.
If you are hanging your objection to the support of Israel on this thread based on abortion or even the World Economic Forums Global Gender Gap Survey, you're pointing out fly shit in a pig sty. Should we overlook honor killings, stoning for being raped, restrictions on being in public, or having genitals mutilated to prevent enjoyment of sex to find something against Israel's liberation of women? Should we consider the legalization of female education, voter rights, property rights or the general physical abuse allowed in nations when grading the "rights of women" across the Middle East? Or are you going to insinuate that Israel is less deserving of praise because they allow abortions?
If I have confused what you meant based on what you posted, I apologize in advance and request a clarification. Otherwise,.... "Really?"
I wonder if, how, or how much the calculations/ranking weigh Israel’s new law allowing taxpayer-funded abortion.
I don’t think of dead Jewish babies as fly shit. I hope you don’t either.
Don’t be so sure. Plenty of abortions happen in the “Muslim world”, way more than they’ll admit to and possibly way more than what goes on openly (sadly) in the liberal secular countries we all are aware of.
The survey’s based on the legal climate, not what happens behind closed doors.
Romulus, you have shortsighted tunnel vision here. The article is about women's rights in the ME. You pointed out that abortion is legal in Israel as an argument to temper the praise on FR for Israel. First, does that really make sense in the context of the obvious? Before you trip on your shadow here, remember, abortion is also legal and prevalent in the USA. Again, that has very little to do with women's rights in the ME.
I'm no fan of abortion. I'm Catholic and abhor the very idea of it. But in the Middle East, they stone 12 year old girls because they were raped by their uncle. Women are mutilated for being seen alone in public. You've picked out one objectionable social issue in Israel (that we also debate here in the USA) to demonize the sentiments on FR.
I must ask, what do you think of America regarding women's rights? Are we no better than Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, etc. simply because our SCOTUS ruled that abortion was not illegal here?
Undoubtedly. But it’s their socially-correct society they want to label “apartheid” in spite of all that.
Ahhh -Cutie from Croatia!
I am wondering how the PC police let them get away with this statement.
And all of you know that!!!!!
Make sure that last W doesn’t stand for “with”.
Speaking about an apartheid state, there was a great article recently here about Saudi Arabia on that subject. I may have a link at home, ping me late if you want me to look.
I dunno. Last time I was in SA, the women were totally free to choose their Burkhas in Charcoal or Obsidian.
Some of the obviously difficult daughters were able to be free-spirits by adorning their sleeves with sequins.
Can Israel beat that?
Yes. I'm happy to be quite clear on that.
what do you think of America regarding women's rights? Are we no better than Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, etc.
The massive scale and reach of the grotesquely pornified Western culture -- fully exemplified in America -- objectifies, degrades, exploits, and permanently damages women (and men) every bit as much as the barbaric islamic outrages you list. Every bit as much. American women can read and write and drive a car. That's about all they've got on women in islamic countries.
So you affirm, America is no better than Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, etc. with regards to women's rights. Got it.
I think this account (Romulus) has been hacked. Either that or Romulus is off meds and needs some intervention.
