Florida signals an Obamacare backlash
Chicago Tribune ^ | March 14, 2014

Posted on 03/14/2014 1:49:30 PM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

The message for Democrats from this week's special election for a U.S. House seat in Florida was clear: Talking about a fix for Obamacare will not move voters. Democrats are going to have to do it.

Democrat Alex Sink had plenty of advantages in the special election in a district based in Pinellas County: high name recognition, more campaign cash than her opponent, a district that President Barack Obama carried twice and an opponent who had been a, um, lobbyist.

But Republican David Jolly said he would vote to repeal Obamacare. Sink said she wanted to change or delay elements of the law. Voters said the law was one of the most important issues facing the country ... and they elected Jolly.

Democrats, you need more than vague promises to repair this unwieldy and unpopular law. You need to work with Republicans — yes, Republicans — to fundamentally redefine it.

From the disastrous online rollout, to the thousands of policy cancellations, to the sticker shock over insurance costs, to the sudden squeeze on doctor and hospital networks, to the legally questionable administration-ordered changes and delays in the law, people have seen its profound flaws. . .

Though the White House and Democrats claim the GOP win in Florida wasn't about ObamaCare the president's hometown paper has a different take.

I’ve already learned to be very skeptical of these “signals.” After all, the route of 2010 didn’t “signal” anything we expected for 2012.

I think that off year Congress elections are a lot different than POTUS elections.

With the POTUS election the Dems have such a huge head start, with Cal, Ill, and NY they have 107 evs without spending a cent.

As the ACA devastates households across the nation over the coming months, the backlash will only increase.

I am sure that the 5,000 to 10,000 deductible in DC will not be difficult for most people to meet, but out in flyover country, it will leave families struggling to put food on the table.

Pelosi was right. The democrats had to pass the ACA for the country to understand what transformative change really means...

From the disastrous online rollout, to the thousands of policy cancellations,

THOUSANDS?!?!? Well, if you mean many thousands of thousands, maybe. At least 5 million and counting...

Sadly, I see no fix for this. With these states locked for the Dems the b*stards are almost half way there, guaranteed.
I cannot imagine flipping any one of these states. But I can see losing Texas if fools like Ryan and the other deluded morons get their way with Amnesty.

Florida to Democrats: Fix or scrap your health care law

They'd already had plenty of warnings.

Yea, even if one returned from the dead, the Dems would not listen.

Interestingly those 3 states have some of the worst funded public pension plans and other debt burdens.

That’s why I’ve predicted they will get federally guaranteed state bonds eventually to keep them in the D column.

If they voted for it, they own it, paint them with it 100% of the time.

If they haven't promised to vote to overturn it, they own it, paint them with it 100% of the time.

If they are in state or local gov't and support it, they own it, paint them with it 100% of the time.

If the haven't said anything about it, but are Demoncrats, they own it, paint them with it 100% of the time.

This is a potentially historic time, just like 1994. I just hope that this time the Republicans refrain from acting like Demoncrats and don't line their pockets getting their share before they are tossed out on the asses, like the last time.

There is a big backlash coming. Little by little people are finding out what is in it. They are getting angrier and angrier by the day. Just wait until the 2014 elections. The democrats will pay dearly. The only place the democrats will win big is in the big cities.

“...to the thousands of policy cancellations...”

Try several hundreds of thousands or even millions.

Rush today talked about how the GOP doesn't want to repeal Obamacare. They want to "fix" it.

This is precisely why the Tea Party was born. Me-too Republicans who co-opt leftist causes and issues, just because it's their turn to feed at the trough.

Like an egg, the only way to fix it is to break it.

Destroy Obamugabe’s death panel law. Big time.

Well let’s see how the Residents of Chicago feel about liberalism when their roads fall apart and their property tax doubles in 15 to cover their public pensions.

N.Y.C. is next up. Their new mayor has already stepped in it with closing several Charter Schools, throwing minority kids back into the public jungle Ed. System.

Both have run out of other people’s money . The fall will be priceless to watch!

LOSER ALEX SINK'S QUID PRO QUO---test-marketing Hillary's 2016 message

ITEM Sink took a clear position WRT O/Care----she never voted for it but said she would go to Congress to "fix it."

ITEM The week before the election, Bill Clinton starred in robocalls that went out to local Democratic volunteers

ITEM over a half-dozen lock-stepping House Democrats in league w/ the Clintons emailed fundraising appeals on Sink’s behalf.

ITEM Sinks's "O/CAre fixit" position is Hillary's O/Care position exactly.Read on.

REFERENCE---Hillary Clinton insists O/Care is too important to “turn the clock back.”
The Politico ^ | March 5, 2014 | David Nather / FR Posted by 2ndDivisionVet

In a question-and-answer session following a lecture at UCLA, Hillary Clinton suggested she’s open to different ways of achieving the health law’s goals.

Hillary praised Arkansas — the state where she and her husband rose to political fame — for carrying out a new approach to expanding Medicaid coverage, by using the federal money to buy private health insurance for more than 100,000 low-income residents.

=================================================

Too bad, Hillary---back to the drawing board.
