WORCESTER — Attorney General Martha Coakley is supporting a gay couple's legal battle against the Diocese of Worcester after the pair was allegedly denied the right to buy a church-owned mansion in Northbridge.

Two Sutton men, James E. Fairbanks and Alain J. Beret, a married gay couple, filed a civil suit in Worcester Superior Court in 2012 against the diocese and its real estate agent after their offer to buy the Oakhurst Conference and Retreat Center, a 44-bedroom mansion in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge, was rejected by the Diocese of Worcester.

Let the silent agenda against the gays begin Atlas Shrugged style. Time to give them a taste of their own medicine.

A private seller can refuse to sell to anyone.

"formerly known as the House of Affirmation, a treatment center for pedophile priests that closed in the 1980s.

That, I suppose, would explain the presence of the second story fire escape.

If I recall Church property when put on sale usually has a stipulation that it can not be used for profane purposes.

I think the rule is...they can refuse an offer unless the asked for amount is offered.

"the men are gay and might hold same-sex weddings on the property."

Hmm. In a former treatment facility for pedophile priests.

That would certainly constitute an example of creative repurposing.

We hire whomever we want. By these liberal pukes “logic”, then they can sue me for not hiring them.

It was a posh treatment center for pedophile priest. I can imagine them lining the hallways, eyeballing each other, whispering, you’re too old, where’s the pool boys.

Interesting....the last article I posted said the two dudes studied for the priesthood once.

I think there's much more to this than meets the eye.

Isn't setting someone up a crime?? I have a feeling it is....in this case in particular.

That realtor had no business sending the email to the gay dudes. He's working for the seller and that's privileged information.

Beret...one of the gays....is/was an attorney.

This was like such a set up.

They ought to make it illegal to sell to anyone except gays. That’ll learn ‘em.

Considering its history as a “treatment” center for pedophile priests just how sacred is its memory to Catholics? Simple solution is if the money offered pans out, make the center profane again (I forget the word for turning sacred buildings back into profane buildings)and make sure it is known that it no longer has any church association.

I would write otherwise if this had been a church or even a parochial school or house for religious. But a use that could very well have been run by a secular organization? Not the hill to die on. Use the money for the sale to help poor parish members who need help with Catholic school tuition or paying the high fuel bills or other worthy requests.
