So watching Obama's ineptitude in dealing with Russia's aggression to the Ukraine and Crimea, I keep asking myself - is this the flexibility Obama promised Putin once he got re-elected?

I haven't heard any reference to the open mic promise Obama made to Putin with regard to his handling of Russia now. Could this be what that promise was all about? If this has been discussed or posted, I apologize and would sincerely appreciate links to the discussions.

It was actually a remark Obama made to Medvedev, not Putin almost exactly two years ago.

Reporting from Seoul — In a private conversation captured by a hot microphone, President Obama today appeared to be putting off diplomatic talks with Russian leaders about a controversial missile defense system until after November.

Television footage shows Obama telling Russian leader Dmitri Medvedev that "after my election I will have more flexibility." An advisor to Obama later said the two were talking about Russia's objections to the system, agreeing to talk later because of political concerns on both sides.
