The video was mocked as a curiosity in several media outlets -- from “The Daily Show” to the New York Times -- and seemed to validate the perception of McConnell as dull and a career politician. And then Internet parodies began pouring in. Some mixed shots of McConnell with vintage television or film scenes. Others used ironic music to accompany the footage.

Excellent point. It wouldn’t surprise me to hear that Harry was one of Mitch’s largest contributors.
Indeed - the considerable financial assistance and support he has given to the Democrat in the race, Alison Lundergan Grimes, is evidence enough of that.
As mentioned in the article, the likely point of this video being released was to provide stock footage to outside groups to pick up and use clips of it in their own ads that McConnell’s campaign cannot coordinate with directly. That’s a pretty common practice in this day and age.
The ‘Muzack’ in this ad quickly becomes a deafening din. It’s like Shopping Mall ‘White Noise’ on overly large speakers, for a small space. Volume cranked way up, all the better to EXCITE you.
