....While GOP enthusiasm mounts for a retake of the Senate, the Republican National Committee is spicing up its Black minority outreach operations. Not that theres any expectation of a sudden groundswell of grassroots support for the GOP from African Americans in fact, most observers laugh that off as fiction. But, Republican strategists hope that this Congressional midterm cycle could give Black voters something to think about, or maybe pause long enough to take a broader look at the political landscape.
The response to the RNCs initiative to engage Black voters and share our positive message has been phenomenal, said an eternally optimistic Orlando Watson, a fairly new Communications Director for Black Media at GOP party central. We still have work to do. It will take time. But our efforts have been paying off and will continue to do so.

Exactly, and this is the message that black conservatives need to be empowered by the Republican party to deliver to black voters...and YOUNG VOTERS, especially.
I think we need to work a lot harder to sell regulatory and tax reform to blacks.
I’ve talked to enough businessmen both above board and under the table in Detroit to know that they get it.
How about spreading this message;
KKK Terrorist Arm of the Democratic Party
By Frances Rice
History shows that the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist arm of the Democrat Party. This ugly fact about the Democrat Party is detailed in the book, A Short History of Reconstruction, (Harper & Row Publishers, Inc., 1990) by Dr. Eric Foner, the renown liberal historian who is the DeWitt Clinton Professor of History at Columbia University. As a further testament to his impeccable credentials, Professor Foner is only the second person to serve as president of the three major professional organizations: the Organization of American Historians, American Historical Association, and Society of American Historians.
Democrats in the last century did not hide their connections to the Ku Klux Klan. Georgia-born Democrat Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan wrote on page 21 of the September 1928 edition of the Klans The Kourier Magazine: I have never voted for any man who was not a regular Democrat. My father
never voted for any man who was not a Democrat. My grandfather was
the head of the Ku Klux Klan in reconstruction days
. My great-grandfather was a life-long Democrat
. My great-great-grandfather was
one of the founders of the Democratic party.
Dr. Foner in his book explores the history of the origins of Ku Klux Klan and provides a chilling account of the atrocities committed by Democrats against Republicans, black and white.
On page 146 of his book, Professor Foner wrote: Founded in 1866 as a Tennessee social club, the Ku Klux Klan spread into nearly every Southern state, launching a reign of terror against Republican leaders black and white. Page 184 of his book contains the definitive statements: In effect, the Klan was a military force serving the interests of the Democratic party, the planter class, and all those who desired the restoration of white supremacy. It aimed to destroy the Republican partys infrastructure, undermine the Reconstruction state, reestablish control of the black labor force, and restore racial subordination in every aspect of Southern life.
NINE NINE NINE!!!
Paging Herman Cain.
Love the no nonsense style of Herman Cain. He was imperfect but just fine for a mere mortal.
” - - - - Time for us to get the truth out to the black community....via black messengers to whom they will listen. - - - “
It is not in the interests of the Democrat Party to portray any Black “messenger” as someone who can back up his or her statements with facts on a wide range of topics.
Democrats hold a very tight, emotional, tribal grip on the Black voter block.
Currently the most truthful Messenger who happens to be Black is Dr. Ben Carson.
To make my point: Who in the Democrat Party promotes the speeches and writings of Dr. Ben Carson?
I agree, 100%!!! The time is ripe to go after the African-American vote in a big way!!! Every Republican candidate should be pushing this issue very hard, time after time....and with HIspanics, too!!! African Americans, Hispanics, all minorities should be a part of the “real” American dream.....not the Obama dream of salvery to “Big Brother” Obamabot, oppressive government!!!
>> This ugly fact about the Democrat Party ...
Insidious then, insidious today.
What’s wrong with Carlton Banks? ;d
I’m a bit baffled, CC. Who would you consider to be a Carlton Banks type whitebread candidate that the GOP has foisted on the electorate ?
No current candidates in particular but guys like Michael Steele come to mind. Its got to be someone who doesn’t sound like they would wet themselves if you dropped them in the worst neighborhood in Detroit.
I personally think Herman Cain would play very well to black voters.
It’s funny, Steele actually did help raise the Black vote for the GOP in 2002 when he ran on the ticket with Ehrlich in MD. Sadly, he turned out to be a total disaster as party chairman.
BTW, do you remember when the MI GOP put up Wayne County Exec William Lucas for Governor in 1986 against Blanchard ?
A Black guy from Detroit switched parties to run against Blanchard? Interesting. Too bad he lost by a gigantic margin, only took a single county.

Anyway, the article mentions JC Watts is thinking of running for the Senate in OK. No thank you.
So, Tim Scott reelection to Senate.
TW Shannon for Senate in OK.
Mia Love for UT-4.
Erika Harold primary challenger to establishment Republican in IL-13.
Am I missing any?
Lucas was described as having popular appeal amongst White Wayne County suburbanites, although clearly his candidacy was a fiasco given the ultimate margin. This might also be another example where the GOP recruited a Black candidate and failed to provide them with strong $$ support, which has been a serious problem for years.
The candidate missing from your list is Katrina Pierson, the one that lost to Pete Sessions (also again because of lack of $$).
I wasn’t counting her since she already lost.
I hope Harold wins on Tuesday but I’m pessimistic, this state.
I don’t remember Lucas, but I supported Keith Butler’s ill-fated U.S. Senate run in 2006. Butler was a Detroit city councilman in the 1990s—the first Republican to hold a council seat since the 1960s—and probably the only black Republican to have held such a position; he was also the pastor of a black megachurch in Southfield. While it’s unlikely that he could have won the general in the toxic political environment of 2006, it’s a shame that he didn’t get the chance to try to see how well a black conservative religious leader could do running statewide.
