Surly Rachel Maddow Is Outraged That Even Liberal ABC Questioned Obama's Comedy Chat
News Busters ^ | March 14, 2014 | Scott Whitlock

An annoyed Rachel Maddow on Thursday lectured ABC News for daring to question Barack Obama's appearance earlier this week on an internet comedy show. After playing a clip of reporter Jim Avila quizzing Jay Carney on whether the chat program damaged the "the dignity of the office," Maddow labeled this contention "completely and totally wrong." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

She mocked "capital V, capital S, very serious pundit David Gergen" for this tweet: "Unimaginable that Truman, Ike, JFK, Reagan would appear on 'Between Two Ferns.' They carefully projected majesty of their office." According to Maddow, there is precedent because Ronald Reagan appeared on a Bob Hope birthday show and Richard Nixon appeared on Laugh-In. The examples hardly compare.

Maddow complained, "Sorry, David Gergen, sorry, ABC News, you're completely and totally wrong."

She insisted:

RACHEL MADDOW: Behold, here is Ronald Reagan doing a comedy show, as President taking part in comedy birthday specials for both George Burns and Bob Hope.

BOB HOPE: I want to tell you, Mr. President, with all of the travel and all of the work you have done, you look just great.

RONALD REAGAN, FORMER PRESIDENT: You look great, too.

HOPE: Well, I hope I look that good when I'm your age.

REAGAN: I hope I look that good when I'm your age.

MADDOW: While we're on the subject, consider that President George W. Bush, he wasn't above showing up on a Howie Mandel game show while he was president, and good for him for doing it. And if all of that kind of stuff makes you feel terrible about the dignity of the presidency, first of all, you should probably lighten up. Second of all, though, consider the example of Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon on Laugh In.

I despise the left wing, liberal media and those who believe that their reading of a teleprompter somehow empowers them as some let wing, liberal facilitator. It's one thing to have a political base borne of your particular following that would justify such a belief. But a teleprompter news reader has no political power, influence of their own to speak of. You can replace madcow with any number of left-wing political animals and the ratings will not in the least show any discernible change.

Nevertheless an outraged madcow is one of my the favorite reasons there is just such an an entity as that of a madcow.

LOL! The dignity of the office has been so severely damaged by Obama that I doubt an appearance on a comedy show would be much of a factor at this point.

Rachel is a little testy because of sore knees. Perhaps she needs a new set of knee-pads.

LIBs/DIMs don’t know the meaning of “dignity”.

So, Ronald Reagan appeared with Bob Hope and George Burns, both certified entertainment legends who were, until the day of their respective retirements, known worldwide and unquestionably at the top of their profession. All three (Reagan, Hope and Burns) were well respected by not only their peers, but the public at large as well.

In stark contrast, Obama embarrassingly appears on some utterly unknown program which might as well have been on an obscure local community access channel, and was interviewed by some talentless jackleg who is known only to the 17 viewers of this community access channel. In this process, both manage to humiliate not only themselves, but they also succeed in bringing disrepute on the office of the Presidency.

And Mr. Maddow somehow thinks these two instances are equivalent? If so, Mr. Maddow is the only one who sees it that way.

I don’t understand why the libs are so proud of his appearance on that internet show. The interviewer made him look like a total fool. Did they even watch it?

Here's that no-class President Reagan embarrassing himself by stopping by Pope AFB to thank Bob Hope for his years of service and to say how proud he is of our troops. Thousands of them at the show. No class at all.

Nothing in common at all with the smooth community organizer obongo between two ferns. A show watched by tens, maybe dozens.

I think it was at a side party during the national correspondents dinner a couple of years ago, that Maddow approached Sarah Palin, knowing she would be attending.
Maddow introduced herself, and Palin, without missing a beat, said “ Honey , could you grab me a diet cola?”
BAM!!!
