McCain to GOP: Get your priorities straight!
Washington Post ^ | 03/16/2014 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 03/16/2014 7:42:48 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

By Thursday afternoon, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had had enough of posturing by fellow Republicans and their opposition to urgently needed Ukraine aid and Russian sanctions. The bill will now be delayed 10 days during a Senate recess, leaving Ukraine hanging as Russian troops mass on its border. “What has happened? Where are our priorities? . . . You can call yourself Republicans, that’s fine, because that’s your voter registration. Don’t call yourself Reagan Republicans,” he declared. He was channeling disgust among conservative foreign policy experts over the GOP’s hang-up over International Monetary Fund rules. (“Is the IMF whether it is fixed or not more important than the lives of thousands of people?”)

A conservative foreign policy think tanker disputed even the rationale for opposing the IMF funding. He told me, “There is no reason to oppose the IMF reform. It merely rationalizes voting percentages based on size of economy. This gives Brazil, China, India, et al, a slight rise, at the expense mostly of Europe. The U.S. share falls from something like 17.4 to 17. It doubles the amount of everyone’s contributions. I have yet to see anyone explain why this is bad. And our friends around the world are dumbfounded that we would oppose [it].” McCain echoed this argument on the floor.

Republicans who stalled the bill did not even have intellectual consistency going for them. If their complaint was about adding extraneous material to the bill, they shouldn’t have larded it up with a provision to block the Internal Revenue Service from going after political nonprofits. And even if one had a complaint, was it worth keeping funds from flowing to Ukraine? As for the House bill, McCain pointed out that it lacked sanctions language to punish Russia.

No one trusts Obama or McCain.

They’re two sides of the same coin.

Didn’t that doddering ol’ fool tell us “we had nothing to fear from Obama?”

He never laid a glove on him and he now wonders why conservatives aren’t manning the fort on Ukraine.

John, go speak for yourself!

Priority for the Conservative faction of the GOP is to vote out RATs and RINOs starting in November!

Organize, find Conservative candidates, get out the vote, and expose voter fraud.

It's not just Obama or McCain. It's both political parties.

People simply realize that both the GOP and Democrats are the same.

He's gone from that to being dangerous on a global scale. He befriended and supported (and still does) terrorists in Syria. He goes to Ukraine, bringing co-conspirators in the US Senate, with the goal of forcing US policy.

Where are US citizens at? We want our southern border defended. Ukraine has a much better neighbor in Russia than we do in Mexico. Let Ukraines figure it out or let European neighbors support them.

I saw this in real time on C-Span2 and was stunned by the ferocity of his attack. The intensity of it suggested to me that it wasn’t motivated by principle or ideology, but rather by raw fear. I think he realizes that the young turks are really here and the good ole boys have lost their power: he realizes he is no longer relevant.

He is raging, not against political adversaries, but against old age.

How so? Reagan's beef was with Soviet Communism, not Russia (or Russian nationalism) per se. He saw, rightly, every inch of land, every person that fell under Communist domination another inch or person that fell into slavery by one of the most pervasively evil ideologies every seen on this planet.

So he stood up and righteously led the US into the fight against it wherever/whenever it raised its ugly head. But this thing with Russia isn't about an ideological war: it's about a thug Russian nationalist doing a good ol'fashioned land grab. It's an apples/oranges situation both in terms of principle and required action.

If McCain understood that, he'd really be standing up against the broad encroachment of Leftism here at home, and Islamism abroad. Because THAT'S where Reagan would see the fight and THAT'S what Reagan would do.

I agree with you. What interest does the US actually have with Ukraine?

I will answer that.

None, except that the current anti-american regime of the US owned by the NWO wants Ukraine in their column and they never care who or what kind of vermin they support wherever they agitate as long as the rebels they agitate promise to support the NWO.

I agree with you. What interest does the US actually have with Ukraine?

I beg to differ. The interest in the Ukraine is that whatever we do there sends a clear signal to our very valuable, and loyal Eastern European allies as to whether we'll stand up for them if they turn out to be next.

And memories of 1938 and 1939 run strong there. In Poland, for instance.

I'd go with a variation of what Krauthammer suggested. Renew defense ties with Poland and other nations (including reviving the missile shield), and send military advisers to the Ukraine for training purposes - but really act as a tripwire that the Russians won't cross. But recognize that this isn't Cold War II - it's a nationalist thug doing a land grab.

Balderdash. Russia isn’t going to try to reassemble the Warsaw Pact and occupy Poland or Hungary. That’s total fear-mongering, and for the US to get into war mode now over fantasies like that would be nutso.

As for Crimea, whether Russia’s in charge there or not, you will wake up tomorrow and go to work and it DOESN’T MATTER TO YOUR LIFE OR MINE, or the security of the United States. Please stop trying to create crises where there aren’t any. WE HAVE ENOUGH REAL PROBLEMS AT HOME, we can’t afford to invent problems overseas to divert us from fixing the mess at home, starting with Obamaceer.

I think you and I do not agree that this US we have now, is the US that we all think, or thought, we live in. Your freedom is gone and it is diminishing daily. Neither side in this is on YOUR side. Both have interests that are not “American” interests”.

Being on the side of Obama is not “American” anymore. It is Global and anti sovereignty. Thing is, nobody seems to be able to stop it.

This Russian thing is very confusing to most of us. Deliberately so.

Where are your priorities, McCain. We’ve got socialism at home to fight. Crimea makes no difference to US citizens. Nobody knew the name of Crimea’s leaders a month ago, and it doesn’t matter who they’ll be a month from now. All these manufactured crises are great for diverting attention from the need to BRING FREEDOM BACK TO AMERICA!

McCain, stay in Ukraine! McCain, stay in Ukraine! McCain, stay in Ukraine!

Hey, that has a ring to it.

I somebody had asked you five weeks ago, “Who’s the leader of Crimea?” I bet you couldn’t have answered, or cared. Me too.

So why do we care today — except some TV talking heads and some war-loving politicians like McCain are telling us we need to think this is important.

Sorry, I don’t let McCain set my agenda and tell me what is or isn’t important.

John McCain proves once again that he is the Wendell Willkie of the 21st Century.

For those that don't know Willkie was a life long Democrat that never once served in any elected office. He was "somehow" made the Republican nominee in 1940 to run against an unpopular and easily beatable FDR. The Republicans had just crushed the Democrats in '38 because of FDR's incompetent failed Globo-Marxist policies. It was in the bag for the Republicans.

Willkie threw, I mean lost the election and then promptly went around the country attacking conservatives and drumming up support for FDR's policies. Sound familiar? He then wrote a book pitching Globo-Maxist one world government that is aptly titled One World. When he conveniently died a couple years later at the ripe old age of 52 he was lovingly eulogized by none other than that Red lesbo Eleanore Roosevelt.

The only difference I can see is that McCain has served in office as a (pretend) Republican and inconveniently refuses an early grave.

Inconvenient truth for many here who hate him so much that he could say the sky is blue and they would scoff. You negotiate from strength which include a demonstrable willingness to use that strength.

” He was known as “Jonny Crash” a poor officer and a poor pilot and not even a very good person.”

The count was five:
“During his relative short stunt on flight status, McCain III lost five U.S. Navy aircraft, four in accidents and one in combat. “

And you should read what he did to his first wife! He’s always been a POS who capitalized on being a POW.
