Bill Gates, the multi billionaire who does not have an earned college degree or teaching certificate, never taught a day in the classroom, never worked in an educational system or one room school house is comparing the education of children to electrical outlets.

If we had common core in 1900, we would have landed a man on the moon before world war 1

"...Good point. If Cookie Cutter Core had been around when Bill Gates was a planned and wanted child, we’d still be sending men into space using slide rules..."

HEY! We GOT them there with Slide Rules. Lately, not so much. :-)

I've used his company's products from the beginning through their evolution and appreciate what they do for me.

Otoh, MSNBC and Win8 reveal much about Mr. Gates and Common Core seems to be from that same part of his brain and psyche.

Somehow we didn’t need a federal mandate to standardize the phillips screwdriver.

Seems the “Diversity” and ‘Tolerance” crowd is always trying to make things the same or standardized. Diversity in thought and/or achievement cannot be tolerated

Some times being a multi-billionaire give you the impression that you know everything about everything when it is really an arrogance of people around you patting you on the back with their hands out for your money and that makes you think your are smarter and way above joe sixpack.

What a way to go through life, rich but without commonsense.

good point

privatize schools. the government schools are an abomination

democrats create many fake crisis (like the global warming hoax) so that we think government is needed

see if you made $100,000 per year you could buy anything you would ever need in the free market. so we don’t need government for anything .

so democrats/communists have to create fake threats to scare the people into begging for government to protect them. the news media gets people say “We have to do something about school shootings, global warming, evil corporations etc”

global warming : a hoax, a fake crisis

40 million don’t have healthare : another lie

see the fact that democrats have to lie , crate fake threats , means that there are no real crisis that government is so needed to save us from.

these are just 2 examples but there are milions at all levels of government. there is nothing the free market cannot do BETTER than government can .roads? yes private roads. private schools, private hospitals, private security patrols and so on .

but democrats have written room fulls of laws mandating government agencies like the EPA, IRS ,FDA, FEC , FCC etc. and obamacare. all these government programs do do is cripple business ,add to the cost of products, tax the hell out of us and businesses ,and take away our freedom

another fake crisis is the “mass shooting crisis”

Bill Gates is a one trick pony. He is neither cute nor insightful. Got in on the ground floor of computers; rode that well.

He certainly was in the right place at the right time. I'll give him his due though. He was driven and he was ruthless in his early years. He saw where the industry was heading when IBM decided to get into the PC market and he positioned Microsoft perfectly to take full advantage of it by bullying and pushing other would-be competitors aside.

The defining move of Bill Gates' career was the purchase of 86-DOS from Seattle Computer Products in July 1981 for just $75,000 - just a month before IBM went public with the first PC. Renamed MS-DOS for the IBM launch, this one product launched a monolithic empire that is still earning Microsoft billions of dollars a year to this day despite Microsoft missing the boat completely with the Internet, social media, smartphones, tablets, MP3 devices, etc.

A hundred years from now, when the histories of the computer industry are written, people like Steve Jobs, Larry Page and Jeff Bezos will be shown to have had a bigger impact overall.

If that were true, the Soviets would have a colony on mars by now.

But once an electric outlet becomes standardized,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

God didn’t make children to be plugs in a socket or to be plugged in like plugs in a government standardized hole.

However...One thing is very standardized already in the government SS indoctrination camps ( Single-payer, Socialist-entitlement “schools”).

EVERY government owned and run K-12 school in this nation is godless in its worldview, curriculum, and school policies. It isn’t religiously neutral but it is standard. The children **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate while in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise?

The problem with common core is that it is not just a set of common and basic standards. That’s the marketing spin but it’s a lie. Instead it’s a command and control system the covers almost every aspect of education.

Contracts for these “digital tools” will be parceled out to insiders and the outcome will be much like the Obamacare exchange.

Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) accused President Barack Obama of wanting to “bully” states into adopting a Common Core system that would federalize education and eventually empower bureaucracies, instead of local governments, as it imposes top-down standards.

“He wants to control everything,” Bridenstine said.

Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution enumerates federal powers. Education is not among the enumerated powers and, thus, is left to the states or the people as required by the 10th Amendment. Additionally, there are longstanding federal statutes that explicitly prohibit using the federal bureaucracy to control education within the states. Presidents from both parties have violated these statutes.

No teaching certificate? Horrors.

How about no parenting certificate, as in a man who has shirked his responsibility to take on his role as a father?

Yes, shirked!

I smell compensatory behavior, maybe there is an aborted Gates Jr. in his past. Now he’s gonna make up for his failure to form a family by messing with ours.

He’s a genius, right?

The common core issue is federalizing schools further....more than anything

But why schools do not perform has much more to do with families or lack of today than the schools

Why nobody here gets this is a sickness and betrays what is our fundamental undoing

Our unwillingness to confront sad truths about our culture and groups that fail....and why they fail

Yes public schools are more liberal but so are nearly all private schools

Progressive political correctness over history ..race....gender...religion...permeates all education and those who run it

I guarantee you even Hillsdale is PC about racial empirically observed issues

Guarantee it.

This infection is like the Borg....and there is no cure.....not even home school

Only cure is a hard reset and what comes from that is anybody’s guess.

I’ve been dealing with this 20 years and another 15 to go

Political correctness killed it....sure as a hydrogen bomb.

That and the dissolution of the traditional family and values
