(Exempt) White House: No Obamacare Individual Mandate Delay
NY Daily News ^ | 3/16/14 | Joseph Straw

The White House will not delay the “individual mandate” at the core of Obamacare, a top Administration official said Sunday.

“That will not happen,” top White House advisor Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, amid Republican calls for a delay of the requirement that Americans have health insurance by March 31 or incur a fine assessed with their 2013 tax return.

The original deadline, Feb. 15, was extended amid the disastrous rollout of the administrations website for policy shopping, healthcare.gov.

The administration has already delayed the law’s employer coverage requirements.

Obama’s lying again! He just waived his magic dictator’s wand and granted EVERYONE an exemption from paying the obamacare mandate fine; from UPI:

“The Department of Health and Human Services released a seven page bulletin Wednesday announcing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ decision to extend the transitional policy of the Affordable Care Act by two years, to Oct. 1, 2016.

Effectively, this makes the individual mandate — the requirement that all individuals purchase insurance by the end of March or face a tax penalty — considered by many to be the backbone of the Affordable Care Act, an option one can opt out of rather than a requirement.

The transitional policy allows for hardship exemption from the tax penalty if an individual can’t afford to sign up for coverage. Previously, exemptions were only offered in extreme cases — such as bankruptcy, eviction, or homelessness — and required documentation, while the current language allows users to seek exemption if they “consider other available policies unaffordable” or if they “experienced another hardship in obtaining health insurance,” and only requires “documentation if possible.” “

Every day, by degrees, the American people get a little more used to law by decree.

What would have been an impeachable outrage not long ago, isn't worth a thirty second spot on the evening news.

If El Presidente will increasingly act when congress doesn't, why bother with a congress at all?

Article V. Now.

Obamacare has morphed into the multi-headed Hydra of 2,000 BC. Congress is tying itself into knots trying to kill this thing, meanwhile...

Yeah, but what you see is that they have sent out mixed messages. Nobody knows what is the law anymore. They will find out when they get screwed.

Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, but I assume the Republicans are not challenging Obama on Obama-care modifications because a Republican president will be able to do the same thing.

In fact, I think Obama has already set a precedent that Obama-care could be postponed indefinitely and never implemented by future administrations.

No, there isn’t. You will only notice that on the 2014 returns.
Maybe or maybe not. Nobody knows anymore. LOL

Article V. Now.

IMO, an Article V convention is a very bad idea. We should instead be amending those critical elements of the Constitution that would be very hard to refuse to support:

Clarify the Supremacy Clause such that any treaty requiring powers exceeding powers enumerated in Article I Section 8 is null and void.

Amend Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 to require treaty ratification by three fourths of all state legislatures instead of "two thirds of Senators present." At the very least it should be two thirds of the full Senate.

Immediately resubmit all treaties now on the books to ratification pursuant to these new amendments.

Then we can get to things like rescinding the 16 and 17th Amendments.

this means they eventually will.

they have a delay on it if you have lost your plan to obamacare and it’s too expensive to get another plan. you just have to claim a hardship exemption. you will not have to deal with the mandate til 2016.
