Crew on a Greek flagged oil tanker are responding to radio reports of suit cases found floating in the Straits of Malacca, between Malaysia and Indonesia, Greek media reported.

The Oil and chemical tanker, the Elka Athina, reported to media that it was steaming toward a zone identified as a field of debris, including what appeared to be aircraft passenger's luggage.

The crew was responding to a report from an Indonesian source, according to the translation of the report.

Saw this on twitter, turns out to be false alarm Foxie News ‏@FoxieNews 3h Greek cargo ships were not told there's suitcases in Malacca Strait. That was a Mis-Translation. They were told to "watch for" items.

Thanks. Big news indeed, if it proves to be stuff from MH370. Not good news, though.

I bought a T 2000 back in the 70s mainly because Jimmy Connors used one. It was just not suited to my style of play and I went back to my Yonex. I gave it to a good friend who was a good player. He absolutely loved it and wondered why he hadn’t tried one before.

There really is something there if you go to the satellite photo. It could be a submerged airplane, but the picture isn’t clear enough to be 100% sure.

According to this Twitter posting, that picture of the possible airplane wreckage from Tomnod is at coordinates 5 39'08.5 N 98 50'38.0 E:
https://twitter.com/ThisDigitalLtd/status/444985659594256385/photo/1

Those coordinates are only five miles from Pulau Perak, a small rocky island which constitutes the westernmost extremity of Malaysian territory.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulau_Perak

Back on Tuesday, March 11, the Malaysia Chronicle published this quote:
"The last time the plane was detected was near Pulau Perak, in the Straits of Malacca, at 2.40am"
http://www.malaysia-chronicle.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=241521

Here's another article from last Tuesday, March 11 about Pulau Perak and the flight path:
MH370: Did authorities visit crash site today (Tuesday)? http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalking/2014/03/11/mh370-did-authorities-visit-crash-site-today/

So we have a published quote from five days ago that the airplane was last detected near Pulau Perak and now we have a satellite image only five miles from Pulau Perak that looks like it might be airplane debris. Hmmmm.

From an economic and strategic perspective, the Strait of Malacca is one of the most important shipping lanes in the world.

The strait is the main shipping channel between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, linking major Asian economies such as India, China, Japan and South Korea. Over 60,000 (94,000?)[2] vessels pass through the strait per year,[3] carrying about one-quarter of the world’s traded goods including oil, Chinese manufactures, and Indonesian coffee.

How could somebody not notice it crash into the straits?

You can always tell the player who uses the T2000 - one forearm is twice the size of the other.

I loved my T2000 back "in the day", and have bought a couple off eBay to display on the wall in my office. :)

Maybe they are embarrassed because the pilot went nuts.

"Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was a fervent supporter of his country's opposition leader who was jailed for homosexuality - illegal in Malaysia - only hours before flight MH370 vanished with 239 passengers and crew on board, the Sunday Mirror can reveal. And in a new twist, it emerged that the pilot's wife and three children moved out of the family's home the day before the plane's disappearance."

Maybe 240 to 300 feet deep.

Pulau Perak (5°41'N., 98°56'E.) is a barren white rock, 115m high. The rock lies nearly midway in the Strait of Malacca, between Sumatera (Sumatra) and the Sungai Kedah. It is steep-to, with depths of from 73.1m to 91.4m within a short distance.

From another story, Wilson de Ball spent several years adrift in life as he was unable to handle the acclaim that came his way from his acting career.

Wilson found himself in Dubai in late 1999 and promptly converted to Islam, taking the name, Muhammad Atta Oball.

Known as the unconfirmed 21st hijacker, Oball missed making one of the doomed flights due to a bad bounce and kicked around until 2004 when he was captured in Baghdad and sent to Gitmo.

Released in 2009 by the Obama administration, Oball was delivered to Malaysia to begin his life anew. Authorities are presently reviewing any known links between Oball and flight MH370.

Tom Hanks had no comment when contacted for this story.
