As gun sales skyrocket across the country, an Oceanside shop that lets you build your own guns says its business is booming too.
Ares Armor offers gun enthusiasts a novel way to exercise their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.
Under the Gun Control Act of 1968, an individual can make a weapon for personal use, but not for sale or distribution, said Ares Armor owner Dimitrios Karras. Its legal and his business is through the roof. We are flooded with orders right now, he said.
Ares Armor allows customers to buy all the parts needed to build a weapon. Their best seller and most popular gun is the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

The owner of a California store that sells gun parts to build rifles from scratch is refusing to turn over his customer list to federal officials.
Dimitrios Karras, owner of Ares Armor in Oceanside, told Fox5SanDiego.com that Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents are investigating his business because it sells AR-15 lower receivers, which contain the gun's operating parts.
The company sold thousands of 80 percent receivers in with colors showing where the customer can drill, making it easier and cheaper to build. The ATF said the sales are illegal and demanded the company turn over the products and names of customers who purchased them, according to the report.
They said either give us these 5,000 names or we are coming in and taking pretty much anything which is a huge privacy concern and something we are not willing to do, Karras told the station.

District Judge Janis L. Sammartino of the United States District Court, Southern District of California issued an order Friday to prevent Oceanside's gun parts supplier Ares Armor from divesting itself of inventory and records subject to a temporary restraining order the court issued Tuesday.
Also included in the order was notice that the temporary restraining order did not restrain lawful criminal proceedings, as well as a modification of the briefing schedule ordering the parties [to] fully address all of the facts and circumstances as alleged by one another."

Looking at the magazines, those jack boots had green tips in them. Steel core penetrators.
ATF is just another out-of-control agency. Even if the Current Occupants of the White Hut are finally evicted, it is going to take a while to drain the poison from all the appointed and unionized ranks of government representatives in the regime associated with the territory once known as “the United States of America”.
Particularly in that district known as “California”.
Another chapter in ATF vs. America. At least nobody died like at Ruby Ridge or Waco.
The WTF deemed 80% receivers as non-firearms. No they say they are firearms? Only in obammys “Amerika”.
That’s supposed to be ATF, not WTF.
I think you had it right the first time.
Answered my own question: Then there would be a good possibilities of fatalities when the ATF goons didn't like someone saying, "No".
Same reasons they stormed Koresh and his followers. The sheriff in Waco told the ATF that if they wanted to talk to Koresh, he would come to town and talk to them any time. When the ATF were attacking, Koresh was on the phone to 911 asking for help.
Why shoot Randy Weaver's dog, son, and wife? Lots of people would have gone up that mountain and tried to mediate with Weaver. There was no need for assassinations.
The reason is pure terror tactics. The ATF want the population, and in particular certain portions of the population, to know who is boss. The jackboots are the boss. No restraining order or constitution will stop them. They want everybody to know and fear them.
The “Administration” will simply redefine the law to make this illegal, as in “Obama Care.”
Basically, if you never bought a gun in your life because you were paranoid about guvmint thugs comin’ after you, you’re still screwed. Pretty soon they’ll be raiding FR for the true identities of anyone who even posted a pro-gun item. Tyranny is here.
Convention of the states, or war.
ATF has been out of control since its inception. Their criminal activities would fill a book.
I’m waiting for the candidate who is going to cut ONE TRILLION DOLLARS out of the budget on Day One. Easy, when you start eliminating out of control agencies.
Let government workers eat cake.
Yup
They obviously were doing a brisk business. So whoever follows after them will hopefully have a way to reassure buyers that their records are quickly deleted. You don’t need all that much information about your customer when you sell them a hunk of metal.
I wonder ... there is a guy selling barrel adapters to allow attachment of an oil filter to your rifle ‘for cleaning’. The ATF must be foaming at the mouth to raid that guy.
BATFE did not violate the restraining order. They legally got clarification that they could proceed before they served the search warrant.
The big question that they never inform the judge about is whether the items in question are legally defined as guns or not.
BATFE simply says that they are, when it is *the* major point of contention.
