The magnitude 4.4 earthquake that struck near Westwood is the most significant shake in Southern California since a 5.5 earthquake hit Chino Hills in 2008, a U.S. Geological Survey seismologist told reporters at a news conference Monday morning.

Robert Graves said there have been at least six aftershocks since the 6:25 a.m. earthquake. The largest so far has been a magnitude 2.7 earthquake that struck five miles northwest of Westwood.

In the meantime, the Mid West Coast of South America is ringing like a bell, with a 6.2 on one of the rings.

I’d like to think the rest of America would simply slide to the right and we would be a great island.

Maybe the flight from Malaysia would finally land.

Best way to view Earthquake activity from a global perspective.

Earthquake 3D.

Go to the link, download the program (takes about 2 seconds). Then just run it.

Has all kinds of controls and you can really see what is happening from a much larger perspective.

Yup. These clowns never thought of that but nooooo...the same ole cliched “slide off the coast hyuk hyuk” statement. They thought FR was located in Texas LOL

There were a few earthquakes I felt in the last month or so before this bigger 4.4 one. I was semi awake when it hit today and felt that it wasn’t the same violent jack hammer Northridge one I went thru in 1994 or I was too sleepy to care....I needed that extra 30 minutes.

You are being cruel. Jim would have a hard time without the $ coming in from the Golden State; check out the freepathons.

And thanks, for wishing me and my family dead. We send $ to help you guys through hurricanes and floods. We pray for you. We do live among crazy stupid libs — but they are all over. If you had a major leftie next door I still wouldn’t wish you dead.

I have been worried. My friends felt a small one just north of Bakersfield yesterday. Now this 4.4 in the SFV. Prayers that the plates calm again. The Norhhridge quakes (6.7, 6.7 in about a one minute span) were over 20 years ago.

I watch the ABC quake cam and also the USGS site along with being on a forum.
We did have some minor, 2 pointers and less in Studio City last week.
This particular quake today was on the New Madrid fault and from what I understand has NOT been active..

We will see......
