There are probably only a small handful of you who actually remember the debate about the Panama Canal Treaty of 1977, which ceded control of the Panama Canal back to Panama.
I opposed it at the time; I still oppose it.
In fact, my father and I continue to despise the Senators, such as the late Robert C. Byrd (D.-WV), who deliberately ignored the cries of their constituents and chose to ratify it anyway.
TOPICS: Culture/Society; Editorial; Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: cybersecurity; globalcommunity; internet; obama
Once more, Obama has found another way to give away our American rights and sovereignty.

I persist in the belief that that (surrender of our American rights) is precisely what he means to do.

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Dale Bumpers was another senator who ignored his constituents. He actually said “I know the people in my state are against this but I think I know more than they do.”

America invented the Internet. We paid for it. We built it.
If that argument didn't work with the Panama Canal, is it really the one we should rely on now?
Are there other arguments out there that will do the job better?

How about do you want China to be a part of determining what domain name you can register and what it will cost?

They’ll decree that Americans have to pay more to “disadvantaged” countries....like Somalia, etc.
What will they do...meter our usage?
Is this a way to accomplish what they could not with globull warming?

I thought that was a Jimmy Carter AH move. The last time I went through the Canal, it was being operated by the Chi-coms!
