WASHINGTON (AP) — Next up for "Let's Move?" How about "Let's Cook."
Michelle Obama said Friday that a new focus of her anti-childhood obesity effort will be to help people cook more of their meals at home because they're healthier.
Addressing a health summit in Washington, the first lady said home-cooked meals have less fat, sodium, cholesterol and calories than meals prepared in restaurants — and save money, too.

has this woman ever ...washed a window, done any ‘spring cleaning’ ever done laundry, plugged in an iron and used it, knows what an ironing board is used for, ever washed a ‘pot or pan’ how about peel a potato? just wondering..

For a casual meal, that’s a lot of wasted tax dollars on those menus, candles, center pieces, all those dishes to wash and what I’m sure are organic free range exotic egg$.

That goal is consistent with Obama’s war against small business. Obamacare, regulations and minimum wage will kill the restaurant industry.

As the owner of a micro-business, I definitely scrimp on the grocery budget and likely will need to scrimp for a few more years. Business is doing fine, the climate has a strangle hold on things right now for growth. Even after consulting with the accountant, I could hire, but it is not advisable. I’ll be consulting with the accountant again shortly...
All that aside, as someone who has to find ways to cut corners, tighten the belt, and budget more money for government taxes than anything else in my budget...when I see people with carts like this in the grocery store my anger boils over. And than it is not just what is in their carts...it is the cellphone they are on, the SUV they drive, the manicures, and hairdo, and the kids in top of the line clothes too. No Walmart clothes or hand-me down clothes for them from the Goodwill or VOA.
When our tax dollars are used to pay for such slothfulness, we are just as guilty as the sinner. Foodstamps need to be reformed so as to not pay for a lot of the stuff in their baskets. The money that we “save” needs to be returned to the taxpayer or sadly used to pay down the debt of the foolhardiness of the government.
I happen to agree with Michele on this idea of more cooking at home. It would do wonders for a whole class of people! Not only healthier meals, but it would bring people back to the dinner table. A place many families are unfamiliar with these days. The drawback is when churches/charities provided weekly food boxes for the poor in the congregation...it came with a dose of virtues and morals. Or even a simple prayer of gratitude over the box for “God” providing.
This is the very core reason I don’t believe we should treat our government like a “charity.” The government is incapable of charity or proper welfare of the family culture, these both must come from God. The government is incapable of teaching wisdom, common sense, or even work ethic, and healthy self-esteem as evidenced by the youth today who expect reward simply for existing.
I say the first step to foodstamp/welfare reform is to cut the junk able to be purchased.
