Two teenage nurses laughed and filmed themselves as they beat a 98-year-old nursing home resident in St. Charles, Illinois.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Chemyra Barnett and Jacqueline Santos – both 18-years old – struck an elderly woman with dementia, took video of the attack, and shared the video with friends.

Thats correct. As I understand it, the turnover rate for nurses and nursing assistants is very high. Many good, upstanding people with good intentions find that they cannot handle the job of taking care of other people. Too high stress of a job, so they quit. So nursing homes are pretty desperate to hire almost anybody to take their place.
That doesn’t sound funny.

I probably would not laugh if I WAS there.
I take things too seriously, I guess.
I want to beat them with my baseball bat. Let them see how it feels.
I doubt they are nurses, more likely CNAs or not even that. I know all nurses are not perfect but there is quite a process to become an actual nurse, and there is a lot of oversight.
Fewer hours, higher pay, windows and cameras, lots and lots of windows and cameras.
Could I do it?
No.
I don't have the patience or aptitude to provide the needed care. It's a skill set that most people don't have.
The real question is why do nursing homes cost so much, if they can't provide the services they charge so much for?
Could it be that the wholesale intrusion of completely incompetent and corrupt federal government funding, regulation, oversight and controll has decimated yet another vital private industry?

Author needs to fact check. They weren’t nurses. Aides, maybe, but not nurses.
Thank you so much for posting that comment. Heartening to know there are decent caregivers.
But they are in “healthcare.”
Just like “teachers.”
They are automatically good.
They are noble.
Their jobs should be protected and they should all be paid more.
