Former ‘Two and a Half Men’ Star Angus T. Jones: ‘I Was a Paid Hypocrite’

Former “Two and a Half Men” star Angus T. Jones has addressed his former show once again, saying that he was “a paid hypocrite” for the CBS comedy.

During an interview with Houston television station KHOU, Jones — who played Jake Harper on the series — took himself to task, admitting that he went along with the series even though it didn't fit with his Christian beliefs.

“[The show] was making light of topics in our world that are really problems for a lot of people, and I was a paid hypocrite, because I wasn't OK with it but I was still doing it,” Jones said.

Though Jones is now a student in Colorado and recently spent time with Houston's World Harvest Outreach Church, the 20-year-old added that he would consider acting again, if the gig was in alignment with his religious convictions.

“There's a few different productions that do kind of Bible-based stories and stuff like that,” Jones noted.

Well, I may not agree with all of his church's stuff, but I applaud him for having guts to speak out.

God bless him and good for him.

Flame away.

I’m glad he said it.

His role in it as a child, was some sick TV.

Sounds like the Holy Spirit is pressing on his conscience to speak out.

Good for him; he’ll take a lot of heat.

Funny that hypocrite is based on the Greek word for actor.

Sounds like the Holy Spirit is pressing on his conscience to speak out.

Either that or he was fired from the show.

Didn’t he already “speak out” about the show a year or two ago?
I seem to remember him apologizing for speaking out after the press jumped all over him.

Or is this the same “speaking out” from a year or two ago?

Maybe he liked it and started feeling bad about it as time went on.

We all struggle with the challenges of life, and making millions at the top of your field on one of the most successful TV series ever, and being young, I’m just glad that he seems to have had this on his mind, and now speaks out, even though it is so uncool, and unhip, especially for a rich sit-com star.

To me this seems like such a down to earth, “normal Joe” kind of thing to say.

In its height and at its best, “Two and a Half Men” took on political correctness with both barrels. It was often crude, but it was amazingly successful at leveling broadsides at feminists, hypocrites and Nanny Staters of all stripes. It certainly wasn’t for every taste, but quite a few of its episodes are inspired comedy.

Just as much of it was a direct hit on today’s massive population of holier-than-thou hypocrites — which is also very PC. :)

Being a light to the world may have influenced him too.
I’ve never seen the show but from I’ve read about it and Sheen, it may have gotten to much for him.
Corey Feldman talks of the darkness of the industry so its good he left when he did.

Why can’t he just go away. He got what he wanted. He is off the show. The show clearly has gone on, why can’t he? Two and a Half Men has been renewed for a 11th season so it will be on until at least May 2015.

He may have lost his lucrative gig on “Two and a Half Men,” but Angus T. Jones says he’s happier having found God.
Nine months after Jones was booted from the hit CBS sitcom for publicly slamming the show, the 20-year-old Seventh Day Adventist has filled the void preaching to churches and ministries around the country.
