2 killed in shooting near Crimea military research center, 'sniper detained'

Two people – a self-defense member and a Ukrainian soldier – were killed after snipers opened fire from a partially inhabited building near a military research center in Simferopol. One sniper was reportedly detained, another is on the run.

As RT producer Lida Vasilevskaya arrived at the scene, the perimeter of the Ukrainian military topography and navigation center was already surrounded by men in camouflage and the situation was "calm."

The local Interior Ministry said in a press release that shooting came from a house under construction opposite the center and targeted Crimean self-defense units as well the military center itself.

“Earlier today self-defense units were informed that a group of armed men had been discovered in a partially inhabited building,” the press release said. “As the self-defense were taking measures to check, they came under fire, presumably from a sniper rifle,” police said, adding that the shooting came “in two directions from one spot.”

One self-defense unit member was killed and another wounded, police said. One Ukrainian soldier from the military research center was also killed, and another was wounded.

Crimean and Russian authorities have one perp in custody, and one on the run, for the fatal shootings of A Ukrainian officer and a Crimean self defense officer.

Western media forgot to mention half the casualties and the Nazi perp, kinda like the Benghazi spontaneous U Tube video protest report.

I’m glad I’m not a detained sniper.

And this is how Putin will be forced to leave Crimea. With IED’s, and snipers, and Russians having to occupy cities, building by building.

Of course, he will have set off a massive civil war at the same time and real peace won’t be possible for generations....

Like all the KGB, Putin believes that if you are brutal enough, you will prevail. It’s worked for him thus far.

If he has a sense of humor left.

Yes, I seem to recall reading about an interrogation technique used by the KGB that involved a wooden desk, and the drawer just under the surface of that desk.

Then there was one that - I believe - was practiced by the Spetsnaz. It involved the use of a heavy steel file for some rather radical dental work.

Didn’t work out so well in Trashcanistan, but that’s another discussion.

Afghanistan was well before the collapse and before Putin. The North Caucus, Chechnya and Islamist movements within Russia are on the defensive, bombing Boston instead of Moscow. Brutality works. The Soviets just got beaten and tired in Afghanistan. Putin is Russian, not Soviet. He has no interest in the International.

Obama: “This is easy. Shoot one of each side and that’ll start them fighting each other. I learned that when I was a community organizer.”

Having a total idiot in the White House makes every thing ‘interesting’.
